Hahaha, in Switzerland where I come from you would get the same treatment when you DON'T clear the trays.
I still feel weird to let the stuff on the table even after more than two years in Singapore.

Hahaha I know how you feel. Yesterday after my dessert I returned the plates and bowl to the auntie, and she was thanking me profusely.
The other day I was at KFC. Was clearing the trays when the cleaner literally SPRINTED to me, took it from my grasp, keeps saying something about how I shouldn't do their job and it was alright for me to just leave it there and walked off with it.
And I've gotten scolded for clearing trays.
And scolded for not clearing trays before.
