1st of all this post is not target at any softies or whoever, m sure everyone deals nicely both buyers and sellers, but still there's a bad egg in the basket. so ya..

after you bought a pedal/guitar/amp etc. went back home and try it and found that its sound/tone is not to your liking..you get back to the seller and say that the item is faulty and ask for a full refund..will you want to do this? and sellers, what will you do?? and im not whinning about any bad deals ive come across here. :)

Will I? I will not. It doesn't make sense and it reeks of dishonesty. Might I ask why are you asking such a question?

Firstly, the buyer is playing dirty. Saying that it's faulty when it's not.
Secondly, the seller must be totally ignorant or naive to actually believe him.

lol phill u seems experience...
u noe how to help my frend ma?
regarding his case with a fellow member here..

If I buy a pedal and discover at home that I don't like the tone, why lie and say it's faulty? It's just a dishonest and immature thing to do. Everyone has different tonal preferences so you can always just sell it again if you don't like it.

If the pedal is truly faulty, then I'll raise hell about it and see that he/she is shunned by the entire SOFT community.

Indeed, the concept of dishonest sellers get a lot of attention here on SOFT, but do note also that an honest seller can encounter a dishonest buyer. Fortunately I haven't met any dishonest sellers and buyers! It could really ruin a nice day.

I believe the guy can never succeed in filing a law suit. Its a gentlemen's agreement.

For me, it'd go like this:

Ok, we'll go get the thing checked out, and I shall refund you if it's faulty.
If not, I'm going to FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST YOU for your BLATANT DISHONESTY.

well, i actually shoot a video of the pedal that i'm selling (of late) just so that i have proof of a working pedal.
not much of a hassle, any digital camera with video function can capture it... and it just take a few minutes.

Good for you. Ethics is something that's important in doing business. but not something that should be expected, especially in an asian society.

The seller has terms and conditions. Much of these T&Cs are highlighted in a document. That's usually what you click "I agree" to before actually committing purchase. Even in a store. The receipts sometimes would state, no returns/refunds will be allowed. The buyer can then choose to buy from there, or NOT. CASE has regulations controlling the sales process and the aftersales process. But that's only if the seller is doing something dishonest or unethical. If you choose to buy from the store who has made clear that you cannot refund, then there's nothing that CASE can do. It is then up to the store to decide on their discretion on whether to entertain the buyer or not.

If not, I'm going to FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST YOU for your BLATANT DISHONESTY.

You cannot file a suit based on lies. Not unless it is a written contract, and even then, can be subjected to scrutiny. You can file a suit based on breach of contract, and verbal contracts are not always binding. Gentlemen's agreements do NOT stand up in the court of law. Not in Singapore, anyways.

And how do you verify that the pedal you shot is exactly the pedal you sold?
