Why do we need to pay to perform nowdays???

Ya i guess its true its all simple economics of supply and demand... the supply is abundant but the demand sadly to say cant fill up that gap. What can we improve? I believe IGNITE was a blast featuring local bands that was great performers from the newbies and the regular acts... Really hoping our music industry and even Radios to start noticing our Music~

...radio stations here have been playing local music.

only selected radio friendly genre.... bleah....

There ya go..radio plays radio-friendly.

If there were college radio stations, some harder stuff or rather, more local stuff would be heard.

I remembered Radio Heatwave at Ngee Ann Poly when it was first set-up, they would spin a lot of local stuff albeit on campus. recalled ging to Radio Heart 91.3Fm when they had a booth at Taka for band interviews& playing on air.

Wut.
As far as i know, most local stuff is pretty radio-friendly for the most part.

as for the thread question.
you don't need to pay to perform, it's a choice. p2p organizers should rot though.

there are more to it than radio friendly stuff, there is a huge chunk of un-radio friendly that getting airplay overseas

mainly because there are metal radio stations overseas, but not in singapore. singapore radio is crap DJs cant even speak english without a weird schwang. too bad we can't get malaysian english radio if not the local stations would be screwed.

as for the radio friendly local bands, do you honestly believe that local music deserves to be on air? how good is local music? if it was distributed in massive english markets like USA, UK and australia, would they even make it?

good bands are a dime a dozen in real markets. but being good is not good enough, you need to be phenomenal. furthermore, these guys sacrifice more than what any local poseur would be crazy enough to do

Bro, we got one radio station here that plays metal lah on one particular programme... If you don't mind listen to Malay radio ah... never heard before Vicious Volume at Ria 89.7FM? Every metalhead and rocker knows about this.

Go listen to the most brutal radio programme in Singapore... beats the hell of poser 98.7 anytime...

Vicious Volume is on Saturday and Sunday nights... from 10pm onwards....

Lyn Sa'adon used to have this Rock on One programme, tons of rock music& I don't mean 'lemon tea disguised as JD rock'.
