but dont ppl say looks isnt really what u should go after in a quality guitar ?
Don't confuse finishing quality and looks as the same thing. An MIA strat compared to a TGM would have dressed frets, heavily rolled edges, and the construction work is much finer. (Then again, I have seen some duds from Fender).
Then again, saying a JEM7VWH vs an RG550 reissue is another thing. I'd take the 550.
Honestly, price vs quality, I'd have to say the worst are the Gibsons. You pay stupid prices for lousy quality. Yes, the final overall guitar isn't half bad, but then again, how bad can a CnC cut guitar be? Look at the inlays on some of the standards. the amount of filler between the inlays and the finger board is ridiculous! You can get Edwards and Tokais which are far better made. No LP sound you made? C'mon man... what is that magic potion Norlin pours into the finish at the Gibson factory that makes the brand so magical? It's called Marketing.
If you want a Gibson simply because you love it to death, then fine. Go ahead. But don't EVER say you buy it because there's no better quality LP-styled guitar out there, because it's simply not true.
P.S. I dig Fenders for the brand... CIJs are definately good enough, but I'm an MIA snob...
