i was at Ranking Sports at Bras today , The malay uncle working there was playing some rock n roll riffs and shredding on a TGM strat and it sounded 8O ( in a good way )

so im wondering , those softies who diss tgm like .. issit because its a no brand or cause it sucks , cause from what i know , i think its above decent .

No Flamming pls , just here to know why

haha , i agree that some og the tgms are bad looking like looks and all .. i seen the PGM TGM lookalike and the fretboard inlays like cock .

but dont ppl say looks isnt really what u should go after in a quality guitar ?

i go 50% looks lol .. but thats just me ah .

dude i think every guitar is roughly the same DUN COMPARE GIBSON LAR of coz...i mean what matters most is the pickups, effex and OF COZ THE GUITAR-ing Skillxz!! can give u 6K Gibson but u know nuts? SIMI LAN ?. 8O Cheers.

Not every guitar is roughly the same.

Take a MIA/MIJ even MIM Fender Strat and a Squire strat, you can feel that the neck is totally different.
Squire strats to me has the rough and sharp edge to the fretboard that I don't like. Individual preference.

Neck profiles, satin/laquer neck, maple/rosewood fretboard, body material, all plays a part. So I disagree with the fact that the pickup/efx are the most impt. Pickups and effects can always be changed, but normally people don't change the necks of their guitars as often as the other two :)

Personal experience of TGM guitars are the rough neck... which turned me off. But you might like it. If you do, go for it :D

Types of wood, neck & fingerboards makes a difference too. Pickups dont matters most.

malay uncle at ranking sports? lol u cannot compare... he is imba!

i think he'll rip any guitar u give him apart... from kapok to PRS!

I once cut my fingers on a TGM fretboard (seriously). The fretting on the upper half of the guitar was terrible. Talk about "played until my fingers bled"!

Having said that tho, I did find a TGM Les Paul that felt alright (not as good as my Fender or Ibanez, but good enuff). Only thing is the machine heads always run... Still, that's a good guitar to bash. Literally, you can chuck it and everything still works (all out of tune, but it still works!)

yup if you want the guitar so that you can hang it on a wall but not play it, tgm are great. but in terms of comfort when playing, tgms are not that great. this only applies to some tgm.not all tgms are good copys. and not all tgm are bad some are ok.

wow!!! de ja vu . some how i've post the same thing before . i think. just cant remember if its in soft.

i've owned a good sounding tgm strat b4 and it is really sweet sounding!
but the ibanez copies are really crappy.. there are so many cheap brands nowadays.. i would advise u to try b4 u buy.. i love the china squiers too! ESP the Pussy AxE!!!

Don't confuse finishing quality and looks as the same thing. An MIA strat compared to a TGM would have dressed frets, heavily rolled edges, and the construction work is much finer. (Then again, I have seen some duds from Fender).

Then again, saying a JEM7VWH vs an RG550 reissue is another thing. I'd take the 550.

Honestly, price vs quality, I'd have to say the worst are the Gibsons. You pay stupid prices for lousy quality. Yes, the final overall guitar isn't half bad, but then again, how bad can a CnC cut guitar be? Look at the inlays on some of the standards. the amount of filler between the inlays and the finger board is ridiculous! You can get Edwards and Tokais which are far better made. No LP sound you made? C'mon man... what is that magic potion Norlin pours into the finish at the Gibson factory that makes the brand so magical? It's called Marketing.

If you want a Gibson simply because you love it to death, then fine. Go ahead. But don't EVER say you buy it because there's no better quality LP-styled guitar out there, because it's simply not true.

P.S. I dig Fenders for the brand... CIJs are definately good enough, but I'm an MIA snob...
