Who, in your opinion, is the Master of Impossible Guitar?

that hand-flipping thing is just a cheap trick which is easy and sloppy.
its easy at such high speeds? i mean the play over and under neck alternatively leh... over, under over under...

i cannot do that over like 92 bmp acurately...

Being a master of guitar is not entirely about speed. Heck, if that were the case Steve Vai, Malmsteen and what-not for shredders you have out there would top it all.

Jeff Beck was not necessarily fast, but he had some really creative ideas, and made his guitar sound like... something else. Now who else is capable of that?

Note: And I'm not just talking making a guitar sound like a saxophone. David Gilmour pulled that off already. Something else. Something different.

Who was that young fella who played the guitar in a unique way, he was like tapping and playing it at the same time?

that's justin king.. he sings too :)

it can only be none other than michael angelo. Unless u guys can name me anyone that ever walk on the planet that can play a V shape double neck or a crazy 4 neck X guitar with both hands at shredding speed.

Now that's the master of the impossible

Shredding isn't everything, and it never is. Technique doesn't make you the best guitarist. Heck, you're better off with a computer. Now that's the TRUE master of the "impossible" by your definition. It can play guitars, bass and drums at the same time too! Just get some music maker running on MIDI and you have the master of the "IMPOSSIBLE", and not just guitar!

Hey Rotlung... what you say it true... but if a person choose to focus on speed and techniques? Its not your cup of tea but its still a skill set and its not an easy one.

To franceso ferrari, speed is his main aim. He states it clearly on his website, that he is in it for speed so don't come here critisizing his phrasing/vibrato/what not... and there's ppl who want to go that way...

so the thread should ask: who are the masterS of the imposibleS

haha cuz there are many unique and hard things out there and no 1 single person's really a master of'em all

Pat Metheny.

Master of improvisation. Master of music Arrangement.

Able to fingerpick. Shred in clean sound.

Tons of music theory. Able to create complex harmony.

None of the metal guitarist is able to do all that.

well well, don't compare. They all have different skill sets.
And I think Steve Morse and EJ can do all those things you listed.

I gotta disagree man, true there are some metal guitarist who can only play fast power chords riffs or shred up and down scales..but there are those who are able to do what u have mentioned. Maybe Marty Friedman is one example? or Marcel Coenen, not too sure you can call him a metal guitarist, but he's in a progressive metal band, or the 2 Angra guitarist, listen to Angra's songs man, nice melodies everywhere, loads of melodic solos etc etc
