Which wah pedal is a value for money???

the right inductor with the rong foot rockin it will sound crappy too ....

The are tricks to using a wah ....learn that !!! rather than chasing the 'mojo' parts and whatnot .... if you have it fine ...curious try it ...

Ones this wah 'enthusiast' asked me what type inductor is in my colorsound wah ?!!

I said .... rare indian basil !

I'm using a Maxon Flubber wah... no inductor. I find I do prefer the less vocal, less throaty sound of a non-inductor-ed wah.

Weird huh.

And I actually prefer using the MXR phase 90 to cop wah-age than to using the wah.

Weirder huh?

i prefer a non-wah alternative as well: envelope filter...

dont forget tymusic centre, which has all rmc and budda as well. misse's stocks arent in yet i think...

I see RMC...

Regarding RMC - I totally agree - they have MOJO.

Geoffrey Teese makes FINE wah pedals with mojo components.

Throaty, vocal and warm tones = RMC.

with regards to the threadstarter's query..

most-wanted, could you elaborate on value for money? you'd have to be specific on what your budget is regarding the wah pedal. another thing you could specify is what genre you intend to use the wah for, so we can suggest accordingly.

and as for wah, the point to make note of is that every wah has its own individual tone, so while we cna recommend one, you would still have to test it out to see if you actually like the tone.

personally, value for money for me would mean getting a RMC wah. i'm currently using the Wizard wah and i'm loving it! :)

get a 95Q.

I want to know what type of wah pedal is that. sorry to hijack the thread. But yeah, anybody got an idea of what type of wah is that? does it suck tone cause there's no button to be "clicked" to switch it on?

Why would you recommend something that even you are not clear with?

Its a wah that uses those dreaded PCB components. Nowadays newer wahs tend to incorporate those kinda "computer" components in it, which affects your tone..... Gives a big headache too when it spoils cos your conventional tech cant repair it because of the PCB board. I sent my 95Q to numerous techs like Beez and G77 and all of them were reluctant and unable to repair it because of the circuit board. In the end sent it back to where it came from-Swee Lee and got it repaired, like finally. I have currently retired it off to a new owner and now am proud owner of a Vox V847A....and its going to be modded to RMC Wizard specs. soon.when i get the cash.

I don't like crybabies cos the default sound is very treblish and sharp.....VOX has a fuller wah tone, yet not so cutting. I agree with Edder on what he says....between a stock crybaby and VOX....the VOX is better. RMC wahs are still the sex though. Personally i like the Morley (Steve Vai) just problem is that it takes up too much pedalboard real estate space and it dosent have that nice clean sound for funk compared to the VOX which is more all-rounded.

the wizard isn't good for wakkawakka clean funk IMO, its a tad too 'dark' sounding. best for high gain stuff though. just in case anyone was wondering, haha.

for cleans - BYOC wah with ALL the mods. best-est wah for cleans IMO but it cant really handle high gain stuff. lotsa diff kind of tone/sounds u can get by tweaking the EQ and using diff inductors or both inductors.

for hi-gain - rmc wizard wah or jim dunlop zakk wylde wah

does anyone run two wahs - one clean one dirty? is there a need to?

I used to want to because its quite evident, if a wah is good at cleans, it is usually too mild for drive and vice versa.

But you do get your hybrids, e.g. Dunlop 535, RMC 2, etc etc

However, some find those wahs a compromise.

In anycase, I find that when using wah for cleans, ppl tend to just sent a rhythm and then go wakka wakka... which is what an envelope filter would accomplish.

true...

IMO the wah is one effect which is easy to understand but hard to use (expressively). It's really not as simple as just rocking your foot back and forth...so if the pedal sounds bad, it may just be because you aren't using it 'properly'. sometimes you have to go WAHHH, sometimes you have to go WOW, sometimes you have to go WW, and sometimes you just leave it half cocked, and it makes a lot of difference. I realised alot of people like to go WAH WAH WAH, which gets boring after awhile...

sorry abit off topic.. hey sub i use the fx25 as well! but mine's an older model i think.. got it from g77 a couple of months back.. is it just me or is it very.. shrill/sharp/harsh? quite hard to find that sweet spot.. but when you hit it.. niiiiice. haha.

hi ebenex. how long is the offer going on? i may pop by tomorrow or the day after. quite interested in trying and possibly buying the artec wah. haha

I think that wahs which you can adjust the sweep settings(like the 535Q) offer the best of both worlds.

My current VOX dosent have any controls other than a bypass switch, I'm going to modify it with an additional trimpot so that i can adjust the sweep and filter, and perhaps a boost switch......
