Which is better? (Pedals)

Get the one that nails the tone you have buzzing in your head.

Be it a new amp
Analog pedals
Digital pedals
Analog sounding digital pedals
Multi effect digital based
Multi effect analog based
Rack based
etc.

actually for simplicity its multi-fx but for great sound its analog.but if you go into podx3 live then not very simple for multi-fx and it sounds great.

he meant using the amps build in overdrive.subby is 99% right.cause you need some chorus and wah and others.

haha, none is better.. both are like on par...
analog pros/cons
-tone very real and smooth,
-patch cables might connect until very long which might cause loss of tone and some noise but can be fixed with a buffer
-price most likely more exp than analog
-weight.. if u need like 15-20 effects, analog will be better cause 15-20 pedals will be super heavy
-most analog pedals can last long, made to withstand force
-easier to tweak than multiefx
-better for a person who can tweak really well

digital pros/cons
-tone might not sound as real as analog
-but some multiefx can be tweaked to sound better than analog
-cheap
-wide range of effects to choose from
-hard to tweak, knobs can be confusing, just need to read up more..
-digital modulation can sound very nice
-big ones can be heavy but definitely lighter than a pedalcase full of pedals
-since its all computer chips and stuff, easily spoilt..
-its better for a beginner who wants to experiment with diff effects and learn how to tweak
-the factory patch settings can sound nice too..

hope this helps :)

Old men will still advise against digital and swear upon analogue like they will swear upon sex.

In reality, both have their advantages. Practically, one would get a digital multi-effects box to familiarize one's self with all the different types of noise. After you save up enough dough, start buying pedals every month. After you have saved up enough yet again, get a better multi for performance purposes if you're gigging. After you become rich from gigging, grab 100 pedals and they will own any digital setup. I can say all this but I have a miserable rig, mostly due to cash going elsewhere and lack of interest in noise. I like plain and simple. Hell, I can make do with what amps have to offer. Of course, if you have a wonderful amp, all you need is a foot pedal like:

what the?? hahaha
this guy's funny.

but yea guys thanks for the tips. if i'm ever going to get pedals, i'll consider your opinions. but as of now, i'm focussing on my drumming skills.

as for the rest of you guys out there, keep sharing your opinions. it an help other beginners who aren't familiar with the 'pedal business'

i just switch from multi to analog.... so to compare... analog sounds better and its easier to achieve the tone with slight tweak... but if u really wanna play with efx... it would cost u a bomb to have all the pedals e.g reverb, analog, flanger, wah, chorus, compressor, blahblahblahblah. but its all in a single multi efx tat can achieve all those (and hardly one goes over 1k... currently i only know of the gsystem which cost a wipping 2k+)

but i still love my gt8... nv regretted getting it... although it has alot of useless function.. :X.. tat u wont even know or get to use... but if u are solely into just plain distortion... a analog pedal would push it to the max!!

im using the boss ml-2... damn power... lolx ... waiting for M.I audio tubezone to come...

hehe, both doesnt matter, coz utimatly in the end, when talking about making music and coming out with cd, everything goes thru some form of processing. The idea of multiefx and single stompboxes just tiny little factors in making own music.

of course unless one can get famous hiding in bedroom wanking to the mirror with loads of gear in the background playing by itself. In that case, i choose single stompboxes
