hello there...
i've been playing classical guitar for some time and i'm really keen on moving onto the electric guitar. i've heard from my friends that there are many substandard guitars around selling at prices higher than what they should be. i'm kind of in a dilemma now, really need some help in choosing my first guitar. and... i've got a tight budget, maybe around 200-300+.

if you're gonna help thanks in advance i'll really be grateful. ):

Unfortunately, most guitars in the market which are not sub-standard are way above your budget (like twice the price?).

Your best bet would be to look for something in the used market.

there used to be this starter package by SX, which was reviewed by subversion, and he said it was good. costed about 220 dollars, but i cant find it anywhere on this forum now! i'm planning to get that one, but i dont know the model number and stuff, and also where to get the pack.

and the second hand stuff in the buy/sell section of this forum are all so expensive...

edit: im raising my budget to around 500-600, i just decided to start working once my school holiday starts!

thanks whitestrat and shenypants for trying to help also.

Starter SX package u can buy at Davis (Penisula) around $200.

With that budget(500-600) i'd recommend a 2nd les paul or Ibanez.

try getting your hands on a second hand epi , or a decent california series squier strat , i used to own one , not bad really

the cort subversion was talking about.. he reviewed it before the site was revamped..
entry level guitars can seriously differ in quality though, so do keep your eyes wide open for defects (and ears as well)..
at your budget, you may get simple epiphones of probably the special series.. such as LP special or SG special..
LTD guitars at davis are in that price range as well..
and the million dollar suggestion... TIMBREEEEEEEEE! =)

to be very honest , dont buy a new cheap guitar .. it'll lead u to disappointment

since u can already play, that's good
look for 2nd hand at this forum
or at luthermusic.com

find something that u feel comfortable, that's all .. dont really need to go for tone or any thing else, comfort in playing most impt
