I have the maxgrip and the Ultex pick. They can be found at Davis. Sound Alchemy has the max grips too.

I wish they had the maxgrip Jazz III in the XL size and in red. I don't like black cos its stupid hard to find when i drop my picks

WOAH. You wear out your picks really quickly.
Mine are still in perfect condition. Yet again, I'm not a hardcore shredder...

I'm not a hardcore shredder either. I pick hard, and I just play alot.. The really bad and fast source of wear comes from pick scrapping. I play quite a bit of EVH!

even hardcore shredder doesn't wear pick that much in 2months. i think mostly due to playing riffs and stuffs on the E and A strings, right?

Doesn't really matter what kinda stuff I play. I just happen to play alot with that 1 pick over a long period of time thats all. I just tend to pick abit harder than most people.

About 2 months of constant use. Pick scrapping, hard picking and all that crap.

I have about 6 of them lying on top of my amp so rotation between them make the picks last much longer obviously. Who cares, they are so cheap.

extreme sia. i'm using elixir strings so i don't dare to pick scrap. :D later all coating come off.

i do some pick scrapping too but i focus my scrapes on the non picking sides of the pick so i got the picking sides only for picking lol

This. V-Pick psycho, 5.66mm thick.

Used to be my fave pick.

Now it's an Ultex .72 or something. Bought a pack. Almost going thru it... I wear picks out too fast. :(

bro... that's quite a reduction in thickness... i think we can be known as the pick grinders; our picks simply cannot live its useful life for long he he...

my current favourite :

0.8 , great for both electrics and acoustics.
Ordered these from somewhere in europe.

ok after buying a few picks, here are my test results, starting from those i mentioned i would buy.

- jazz III ultex: the edge feels more resistant against the string so that slowed me down quite a bit. the grip is just nice though
- jazz III max grip: the grip is imba!! but still need some getting used to since i'm too used to big picks and i didnt buy the big max grips to try.
- dunlop delrin 1.14: how does malmsteen use delrins?? i get almost no sound when i go through the strings!! after 5sec, it went straight to the pick book
- dunlop tortex teardrop 1.0: i used this b4 and i thought it would work again but i guess my picking has changed alot since last time, only thing i can do on this is rhythm, no fancy lead lol.
- planet waves black ice 1.1: the grip is nice, very similar to the tortex, but the tip could use a little filing. its too different from the jazz IIIs

in the end, its still either the jazz III XL or the ibanez paul gilbert black/white picks for me. btw my ibanez PG has a fine sandpaper glued to the surface (one side only) to prevent slippage of the thumb.

Yngwie uses white 1.5mm delrin custom made for him, you can get those 1.5mm delrin in stores but they're in purple.

Blue Chip Jazz 80 and Jazz 100. These replaced the small pointed V-picks that I've been using the last 3 years. Will get by with the standard or Ultex Jazz IIIs though.

Bought them direct. Feels alot like V-picks in that when it warms up it doesn't slip. Sounds very close to Ultex Jazz III and Pickboy Jazz 1.5mm. Sonic difference is probably 3 to 5 percent better on the Blue Chip. Whether it's worth USD50.00 for the Jazz 80 or USD75 for the Jazz 100 that would be a VERY personal choice. Lastly the Blue Chip picks are very fast off the strings and they wear VERY slow.
