It seems that the forum is weighted towards guitarists. Looks like there are more guitarists than other instrumentalists around here. Let's take a poll and see how many of each frequents this forum.

My first instrument was piano (or rather electone, didn't like it much, wasn't good at it). Second was clarinet (for school band), third came the drums and I learnt a little guitar (until I decided it's not my thing, don't have flexible fingers and all).

Now it's just drums.

I started off with the Classical Guitar in secondary 3 and progressed to the Classical Piano in the same year.

no offence to all u guitarist out there but i found no kick in the guitar maybe because a piano has much more octaves than a guitar

haha that was the first song i tried to play when i was first hooked up on the piano b4 i took piano lessons.my fren would tell me to press this button and then this button and then that button...hahax...so lame

until now i still dunno how to play the intro , i only know it starts wif a C appaeggio that's all

actually quite true lah....

before or after their lessons , they would try out the pianos on sale at the music school in which they had their lessons and produce beautiful music wif it.i started to wonder for myself , kids these days can produce beautiful music on the piano but hey , if they can produce such wonderful music at their age , why can't I????

it's not to say every young kid i see playing the piano can be child prodigies right????

Took piano lessons when i was very young..quit..picked up the electric guitar under my bro's influence...now playing a bit of drum n bass..but still mainly a guitarist...bass is shiok but guitar more fun and more tricks...

dont be cock lah, when ppl say first instrument they meant it as "primary" instrument. so that the poll will reflect have more accuracy depicting the kind of instruments ppl play. Not the real "first" instrument.

Like that i'm damn all our first instruments are the clapping of hands or snapping of fingers, or whistling...

well, my first and only instrument i know how to play is an acoustic guitar.
not that i wanted it but i got it as a b'dae present.(in p6)

juzz a short story:
basically, my kuzz was supposed to teach me all the guitar stuff but he went to ns some months after i got the guitar.
so there goes my tutor.
then when my string "broke", i haf no idea what strings i should get, where to get it.
bcoz playing the guitar wif some strings missing was not much fun, my guitar was put aside for 3 yrs+, never been touched till last dec.
man was the strings rusty.
phew...
