what could have caused such noise?

hi guys, i am using a sansamp GT-2 and i used it wif a roland jazz chorus amp at a jam room. i found out that i couldn't set my high knob up after 12oclock, it would give out high pitched tones which are really disturbing to my ears. but when i set the tremble on the amp higher, it is better but still wif the noise, however the sound production with the setting on the amp is not enough.(distortion wise)

What can i do to solve this problem? i cannot get the tone i want from my pedal this way. so where does the problem lies? with the amp? or the pedal?

Without physically seeing anything nor hear anything in a forum like this, just my guess..

Gain level?

Go easy on the gain as the volume on the amp go up.

1) What guitar?
2) What pickups?
3) What Power Supply?
4) What is a high pitch tone? Is it a HUM high pitch or a very irritating piercing whoooooooooooooooohwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...........?

Ibanez S470, stock pickup. pedal is on batteries. the noise come out is the "very irritating piercing whoooooooooooooooohwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

so what could have gone wrong?

thx in advance.

Hi there,

Possiblities:

1) Battery might be dead?

2) Cables are cheap quality ones?

3) Your gain is cranked way more than where it should be

4) According to your post, I understand that you want to increase just the volume of the amp right? Why crank the treble knob when you can just crank th e volume?

5) You were standing too close to the amplifier on high gain?

Try sorting out these, and you should be fine :)

yes, perhaps im too close to the amplifier. i couldn't get my volume up. because when i push it up, the sound just come. and when i had my gain really low, the distortion wasn't intense enough even though i had my volume up.

okay, thx everyone, i will try to stand further from the amp n see how it goes. :)

on a sansamp gt-2, if you crank any of the knobs too high it'll give out the continuous screech, which is not feedback. Its more like the signal gone all microphonic.
