Don't know lah.
Those Filipino service staff, hospital workers - they seem to be smiling genuinely all the time. Rarely show you a black face as though you owe them money.
Which Singaporean wouldn't show a black face when they know their jobs are being scooped up by foreigners? Let's all go to THEIR countries and take their jobs.. See how their government reacts.. I don't think they'd put their citizens in a ring and see how they compete for the job right?
This is relevant not only to the working sector, but education as well.. I've met too many people who are studying here, and have no intention of remaining once they've obtain their certs (no contribution to our nation).. Now, thats a lot more spots less in schools right? Lesser opportunities to study, of course lesser opportunities to find a job..
I've met a person, whose wife was GUARANTEED a place in NUS, PROVIDED that she PASSED her english, while our students are working their asses off for years to obtain that spot she's occupying? Multiply this by several several cases, and you got yourself a problem..
If they argue that foreigners are better at their jobs, being more creative and all, blame the education system.. Ever since an emphasis on school ranking is placed, schools compete to obtain top spots, killing the spirit of learning in the name of mugging.. If Einstein was born in Singapore, hell, we wouldn't have to study physics anymore.. The education system would just supress his creativity.. Students have no past, no present, only a future, which, in such a robotic society, isn't hardly a "future" to aim for..
