wat's ur fav multi-effect so far?

I've used the PODXT last time and decided to change to KORG AX3000G & Boss GT-8..although many say that the PODXT is good while the AX3000G sucks...i'd disagree on that...the korg is just as good and it it easier to tweak for the sounds you want without really needing the manual...as for the PODXT,you'll need alot of time to learn the stuff and u gotta be a really good pdels person to know how to tweak a proper sound out although Line 6 boast of their amounts of amps & cabs models in it...i'll stick with the AX3000G...the Boss GT-8 is a lil expensive but it has features which makes it worth the money..so both the AX3000G and GT-8 would be on my top list.. :)

multi efx i have used in the past, for shows locally and abroad, also for clubbing and studio.

Boss ME-10 1992-1997

Boss GT5 1997-2003

AX1500G 2003- present

whether its a 10 pc funk band with horn section or 4 pc rock/metal band, this units have served me well these years. did surprise a few ears that i was using a floor unit. imo, understanding the way the equalizer reacts, made editing patches a breeze. some real cool simulations are in these units.

However, i'll be reverting back to good old stomp boxes sometime soon. The quest for tone is leading me back to them :)

Im still very happy with my Vox Tonelab SE . Use it mainly for the chinese stuff i do
as it covers all the effects and OD/Dist that most chinese songs require very very well. For the clean stuff like funk etc... i prefer just my OD pedal into a nice amp. the lesser in between the better.

for everything else.

theres my pedals.

Digitech GNX2 (havent tried the GNX4)
my main beef with multi-fx is the wah.
cant seem to find any other brand that has as wide a sweep and control as Digitech.
Oh yeah ... and theres the drum samples as well.

for Bass: Zoom 708II
the thing i like most is the flanger,
beats the crap out of the BOSS BF3.

for digital stompboxes:
BOSS - PS5, DD3
Ibanez - DE7, PT3

digital don't sucks, it's the people using effect that make it sucks!

there are too many things that we have yet to try out to agree with whats in an article. Never believe things 100% through articles even before trying out physically! There are many of those articles around the internet. It's always best to read it, TRY out the gear physically and come up with own conclusion!

Statistic through oscilloscope while presenting an accurate reading and comparison, shall not substitube with the gift that we have, our sense of hearing, towards music.

Imho.

only 3 mono pedal i ever used b4 ... DOD distortion, Boss OD, digital Delay ... it's just me ... cant do much with em ... so sell them off ...

bought my 1st MFX ... a zoom 707II ... tweak ard with it for about 6 mths ... cant figure out what is and what's not !!! thought again ... cud b the effects no good ?? so, trade it in for a zoom GFX-5 ... have been using it till now ... still struggling with it ... tweaking here and there ...

i guess the bottom line here is, know your pedals/effects ... how far u wanna go with it ... yes, like Thor said ... the AMP do make a diff ... :D

Practicality says I must get a multi effects unit and program all the sounds I need before gigs. Now I have individual pedals that need tweaking during a gig..it's not cool.

I have a Marshall TSL 100w head and again it's not practical to take it out to a small gig.

Do the average joe people in a bar differentiate between digital and analog distortion? I dont think so.

Trying to decide between PODXt live (I have an XT at home and for the price of adding a foot controller might as well just buy the live version) and Vox Tonelab SE. Didnt think the samples on the Vox website sounded that good so am leaning towards the XT live... any ideas?

I have used a Korg ax1500G for abt 2 yrs.

The goods:

- It's a all-in-one. So if I need a certain effect like
phaser, I don't have to buy anything extra
- Tuner built in
- There's 2 distortion that I think are decently good
- Cheaper relatively than pedals ( I don't need
more than 2 cables, 1 power adapter)

Bads:

- Other than the 2 good distortion, the OD and other
distortions are quite weak.
- The volume pedal is too sensitive
- Can only use one modulation at a time

Overall I would say it does suit me very well
for gigs, home practice, recording coz it's rather convenient
and generally the effects are decently good to me. :)

Nice article. Now Im gassing for an analog chorus and analog delay thanks to the article.

Sigh.Shouldn't have read it man.

8O

thanks for the warning. think i shouldnt read it either

ah i see. so basically, the brands are zoom, korg and boss. =) think I'll still buy stomp pedals, but the korg hav definitely let me experiment more sounds and maybe help to choose which modulation I really like.

i feel the only multiefx worth getting would be the gt8. i'd say it's sound really is superb for a multiefx. all the rest just don't cut it i feel. they say the new zoom g9.2tt is the new rival to the gt8. but haven't tried one, city music hasn't brought in stock yet.

Side track... why do musicians think like so? I mean, its your tone, who care's about whether the layperson out there can tell the diff? I don't give 2 cents about that... I want my tone to sound good to myself, nothing less.

dude... why the hell you making decisions based on web samples when u can pop down to city music and A/B the units?.... i did and the vox won hands down. but thats for me la... you should just go try.

vox gives a better tone overall imo, the pod xt still has that modeled sound to it. pod edges out in high gain stuff, but vox does give you more of a tubey feel to it i had the vox for a while, tried both din care too much for the pod though. Go try them out at city music just an mrt rides away and bring ur guitar.
