I just got the Korg AX-3G earlier from LutherMusic. being a newbie to multi-effects (prefer boss stomp pedals), I was looking for one that is compact and affordable yet gives out good effects. it was user-friendly, and I think it was a gd deal. tremolo, flanger, delay, chorus, wah, distortion and synth effects were among the ones that I like. also has a chromatic tuner.

I guess it depends on how much effects u need, and the demand for the quality of the effects. its just like buying cameras, u might want a big megapixel but do u really need it? of cos, ur budget too. =)

however, I know that like most technology stuff, its such a rapid change each time. there's always new stuffs and with better quality too.

so, which multi-effect do u swear by? or at least, call it ur baby? hehe.

haha.. well.. used to swear by a ax1500g.. but yeah.. analog all the way!!!! and well, multi efx are good for the modulation efx but their distortions sucks balls..

Oh. I do not have a multi efx, just my humble ds1. But would defintely want to know more about multi efxs.

Hey, instead of just saying what multi efx you use, can you also say what's good or bad about it? Yup, this would certainly help me (and others too) alot!

Cheers!

to me, a good guitarist will use both analog and digital gears.
i dont agree digital distortion sucks. thats a childish statement.

well audio.. its a personal statement.. cuz i use a lot of high gain distortion... and to me, the digital distortion is just a lil too weak.. so its a personal choice.. no need criticisms ok.. chill..

Yeah, chill. But I heard that for recording, multiefx still come out tops. They say it more defined.

Multiefx are good for trial and error, to source out what you actually need and do not need. Otherwise you'd end up shelling out lots getting analogs and then realising that some of them are actually redundant.
And with the patches and all, it really is pretty convenient.

I just bought pod XT live... i love the sound compare to my old zoom 707II... Well, i am still learning using it.. The best so far...

i don't think that there is good tone or bad tone... is what u actually like it... a bad tone to ppl might be a gd tone to u....

it shld be put this way "the choice of tone"...

i use to own a zoom GFX8, didn't realli like it... now i am a analog person...

But the multi-efx i used definately help me out in my learning process on how to use effects.....

Digitech GNX3000!!

I think that modern digital effects are quite on par with analog for the high gain stuff.. it's actually at the low drive stuff where analog makes a more important impact.. of course just imho

Crux of the problem - don't expect your gain/drive effects to sound consistently good with every single amp. It doesn't work that way.

Lots of people are complaining that say, a POD XT Live doesn't sound good (through a 8" cheap amp.) No prizes for guessing why - analog or digital, different gain/drive pedals are suited for different amps.

My opinion is that modulation effects tend to sound very consistent throughout most amps as usually all they do is affect the signal without changing the amplitude (volume/gain in simple terms).

I would have to say, though that a large number of digital multieffects are built for the home guitarist in mind, since companies tend to earn the most profits for the lowest costs from this market segment. Hence some people might find certain digital multieffects lacking when used outside of home practice settings.

It all depends. I don't agree that digital distortion must necessarily suck either, but so far I haven heard of one that impresses me a lot, using my own ears.

Here's a little paper on why digital sucks. http://www.skreddypedals.com/digital_sucks/index.htm

I feel young saying that word "sucks". :D

Personally, the only digital efx that rocks my boat are delays. DD3 and Ibanez DE7... everything else I use is analog. Like Thor, I've yet to hear a digital distortion that knocks my socks off, and it doesn't need to be high gain.

One of the main issue with multiefx, esp low end ones, are with regards to cutting thru in a band context. Tweak as you might, you can't seem to cut without sounding overly trebly/harsh... so on so forth.

I love my GFX8! Though I'm using a GT2 for my drive, the GFX8's efx, mods, etc.. sounds gd live and in recording to me. Have no prob cuttin through a band and such. Just need some tweaking..

i tink a lot of ppl here know i use both analog and digital.
i guess im in the right direction. seems like there are continous advancements in digital audio. and also specs are getting higher and higher.

ok audio.. i'm cool with it.. bit imo, digital is as phil said, good for recording purposes especially with the amp simulation.. but i'm a high gain distortion sort of person, and like shredcow and thor, i've yet to find one that impresses me... anyway, analog is so much more fun, where else can u use a phaser, tremolo, flanger, echo, chorus, wah ,filter and distortion all at once.. i dont see a multiefx tat can do that yet produce interesting combinations that u can tweak on the go... thats why i love analog pedals...
