warmoth or USACG

there are those who says that swimming pool route are prone to feedback and is different sounding due to the missing wood.

Correct. That EXACTLY why some die-hard Fender fans WANT the swimming pool route. Because it apparently gives the guitar more quack and pop!

Whitestrat dude, you owe it to yourself to make a trip to malcolm's.

If not for the workmanship (ridiculously good) then for the gear...

He carries in Gries amps... and for a 5w tube amp... I'm sure you'd be pleasantly surprised. ;)

yeah ive mailed malcolm and got his reply.
i am aware of the true 'strat purist' hating the dual truss rod and even they say SS frets give a brighter sound to the strat..
this may be true.

anyway nosnuma guitars look good but i gotta think of the price of them but i am aware of malcolm's workmanship. :)

weight the pro and cons.

are you assembling it yourself or are you asking someone else to do it?

how much will be the final cost of everything compared to malcolm's nosnuma?

regardless of what you may have heard, I think you should try both. Hopefully he's got both samples for you to check out. Decide for yourself.

Interestingly, John Suhr did a guitar with alternating SS and nickle frets.

I recall reading - no difference he said.

The SS fret strat I tried did have a slightly more "clangy" sound to it, but was also noticeably easier to play, particularly on a 25.5" scale. It's not really brightness per se, just a more tinny/metallic clang that manifests with each note, but it isn't unbearable. The clangy-ness isn't wholly reproduced in the amplification, but you might want to use some form of EQ if it pricks your ears (whether the EQ is in the form of ur drive pedals, an EQ pedal, or your amp's EQ).

I would probably opt for a SS guitar for my next purchase, unless my choice of guitar isn't one that comes w SS frets. I'm not keen on re-fretting, yet. =) oh, and see if you like jumbo-sized frets. Easier on fingers too.

Actually I was thinking of ordering a body and neck from warmoth. But hearing all of your comments, I'm currently having doubts, especially after hearing that their fretting ain't that good.
Do you guys still recommend warmoth, or are there other avenues that I can go to?

Does malcolm build custom guitars?

i've never felt a 'bad' warmoth among all the warmoths i tried,
those assembled by Kelvin at GC .

no experience with USACG, but i'm sure they are all the same
top notch too....

Just depends on what you want and whether the supplier has it.
I was at USACG website
think warmoth got wider selection of exotic wood.
but if you're looking for traditional strat
then that is a moot point.

Goose.. is the "Eden" you mention the eden bodies on ebay ?
any info on those ?

if anyone is keen on ordering from warmoth or usacg and has all the overseas shipping experience. do let me noe, we could order together and save on shipping.

cause i don have an overseas paypal or international order experience

Might not have much savings.

A neck or body alone, can reach our shores @ < $400. No GST.

If combined, the 7% can offset whatever "savings" were made.
