do any of you experience tone problems when using the jim dunlop 535q crybaby. im using it now and it sucks my tone like mad. im thinking of getting a morley bad horsie or something. does anyone know about this pedal, like how it sounds and how much it'll cost and stuff. thanks

coincidentally, I have just finished doing experiments on my bad horsie 2. Its bypass drains ALOT of signal, more than 2 of my stompboxes combined. It colours your tone too. A chunk of my highs seem to be missing when I plug through it. The sparkle lah, its not there.

Its a good wah though. Takes a little getting used to due to the spring mechanism.

just change the switch on your crybaby to a True Bypass. The wah will not suck any tone on bypass then. Simple mod, just check with people like Randolf, randolf@embryosongs.com

IMO, the Morley Bad Horise has a good buffer. HOWEVER... if you have a Boss pedal before it, like say a CE3, somehow, there is some treble introduced to the tone. Not a nice treble, kind of cold and grainy treble. Strange.

Shredcow: Does the true bypass option apply for the crybaby original? How much will such upgrades be?

yes, it can be done on most wahs. Its just the simple changing of the switch to a DPDT one. Better to ask randolf himself for a quote, but it wont be too expensive thats for sure

also note : Do try out wahs first before you buy them, they're extremely subjective to the individual. Really.

(deja vu, how many times has this been repeated? heh heh.)

Hi, which version of the 535Q are you using? To my knowlege there's one version of the 535 which has LEd on off indicator that's without the true bypass switching.

The modern 535q which has the q and volume boost controls on the side and the Classic (with fasel inductor)are fitted with true bypass switching.

Regards

Randolf

Randolf,

There's another model which I really can't remember which one that comes with electronic bypass. The volume wah or something like that. I didn't bother to figure out how to true bypass that unit.

Also there are those switchless ones. Ma! where's the stompswitch!!!

Cheers,

Edwin

i have a cry baby 535. 535, not 535q. ITS HORRIBLE. it sucks tone like crazy, and is noisy as hell. and when i step on the pedal, it wah-s the NOISE, not the signals. pure madness. how much is it to mod to true by-pass?

Hmmm...Send me a pic of ur 535 innards and I'll let you know.
