What's a Kirk Hammet????

Hey nobody has answered my question about my old 535Q.... It's supposed to be 18v.. but it apparently works ok with my 1 spot... will I damage it by not using the right voltage??? Am I being shortchanged of the sound that I should be getting?

Also I was jamming the other day and the power for the wah got disconnected... but I could still play with the wah off on my pedal board... Does that mean that the wah is true bypassed?? is that what's supposed to happen??

Kirk Hammet plays the wah in the manner like how Edder described... like an auto-wah.

Anyway...

I think the coolest wah tones are gotten with a single coil neck pickup on a 22 fret neck. I think thats a beautifully expression tone.

.. you could always open it up and take a look. Check the switch, if it has 6 pins it probably is, if it only has 3 then it probably isn't.

Think of speaking.. talking...

Play and imagine you are in a conversation.

Choose 3 notes.

Then play them AND sing them.

Use the wah to articulate...

A little more "absurd" but interesting - try using words... like saying "I love you".

Use the wah to articulate that as you also speak it... try to get your wah to mimic the way you articulate the words... say it gently, say it forcefully, say it violently, etc etc

So you might find yourself wahing away... sometimes, you just toe down the wah... sometimes, its 5/8ths of the way down... sometimes 2/3rds down... sometimes just a little travel between 1/2 way and 1/4 way down will do. That's the thing man.

I think that little exercise can open up a lot of the wah's more subtle ... voicings.

hello everyone, i've gotten my vox wah, havent played with it yet though, no time yet. however, i've gotta share this experience of mine. you see, i came back from overseas someday and realised that i missed the date of shipment for the next batch of wahs, so i asked city music when the following one will be. their reply: they reserved one for me so i can collect it at their counter anytime. how unexpectedly, i went down and collected mine. i ws happy hhaha and so kudos to city music services!
