1) Any good recommendations for Vibe pedals? Looking for hendrix sounds I guess.using Single coil guitars here.

2) somebody care to enlighten me the differences between a vibe and phaser circuit? or what is the main difference? 8O

Thanks in advance.

without boring you with the technical bull that won't help anyone to play better...

a vibe... has got this very fluid rounded phasing and is a bit irregular in terms of the sweep. something like a shweee wooo scheeet shoooo

a phaser will be just a shweeee shoooooo shweeeee shooooo

so.... a vibe is just plain nicer.

give joey's farcher a call, see if he's got any mojo sweeper in stock.

he got mojo in stock, but reading up on it, they say that it sounds more phasier and less vibey compared to say a megavibe(KR)...

so im trying to see the relation between phase and vibe,

I already have a moonphase plus 2 other phasers, dunno if i get a vibe will it be redundant or not.. :D

bring em all down and do a shootout bro! then you'll know if it makes a difference.

there was one vibe pedal that I tried some time back (really forgotten what it was!) its got a nice 3D kinda sweep that goes in and out of the speaker cab. something that a regular phaser can't do. Now that was a nice vibe!

after beer session or before

btw snuff ....what happen to CC2 ??

btw from the horses mouth ....

Q: What about the future - will you ever make them again?

A: I've tossed around the idea of a CC3. So there's a chance I'll do that in the future. But for now I've got other ground to cover. My design work is shifting into high gear with CC2 out of the picture. I'm almost done with a new Vibe pedal, Octron 2 is coming (don't worry, original Octron is here to stay), new ZIMcards..other cool stuff... More info soon.

There's really no substitute for the Mojovibe!

I'm a big fan of vibe effects, I've tried out the Voodoo Lab Microvibe, Fulltone Dejavibe, Sweetsound Mojo and Mofaux vibe. Good vibe units cost a load of cash. I remember paying about 400 bucks for mine imported from US.

It's really an acquired taste and only can be used for certain songs/parts. I use mine mostly for "Trower Bridge of Sighs" type rhythm, funk rhythm.

For myself I dislike chorusey tones and find myself gravitating towards other modulation textures like phase and vibe. The phasey-ness of the Mojovibe can actually be tweaked via an internal trimpot. There's even a set of 3 dip switches which allows you to choose between a modern or vintage vibe setting.

Go check out one for yourself Snuff...you gotta try to really experience it. The Mojovibe IMO is the best one out there, if you want a less pricey one get the Mofaux, the Microvibe is also not bad but the effect is not as accentuated.

If you have the Red Witch Moonphase, try the tremophase setting. Then place the first knob at around 11 o clock, second knob around 3 o clock.

Very Vibe like.

I'm not familiar with the technicalities but to my ears, phase is more of a swooshing sound, vibe is more of a subtle wetness in the tone. Very very nice. Both effects accentuate your playing overtones very well.

Thanks for sharing..

looks like its the "you-have-to -get-the-redwitch-moonphase-dude!" phase(pun intended) all over again.

Ok man...looks like ill just have to try out and see i guess........THANKS AH all of u! :D

early phasers are vibe ... pretty close ... it is an earlier technology ...built from transistors compared to op-amp based phasers !!

but nowadays its hardly popular ...it the Jimi .. Robin Trower thing !!!

I agree, its a rather subtle effect.

Think of it this way...phase is more Swoosh kind of sound, vibe is more of a Swaying sound. Excuse my lack of a better adjective.

Should try checking out some vids on youtube, I believe the mojovibe has got some demos there.

Heh nice one. The Univibe is based on the rotary speaker sound which is quite similar but different from a phaser or vibrator or chorus. Rotary speakers are oftened used with the classic B3 organs especially famous signature sound is Jon Lord of Deep Purple. The difference is that there's a doppler effect to the sound which affects the pitch. You can hear the doppler effect if you listen to a car with the horn's pitch rising as it approaches you and the pitch desending as it moves away from you. There's phase action going on but unlike a phaser effect there's also the rising and dropping of the pitch which is much slower than a typical chorus or flanger. Vibrato and Tremolo pedal effects are yet again different in that one modulates the pitch and the other modulates the level. Hope this helps. :)
