How do these necks compare? specifically the "soft v" and the modern C.

i've heard that if you have long fingers and you play with ur thumb over, it's better to go with the soft v. how true is that? also, which would be thicker?

it's up to u .
i'am using a 57 ri american strat which has the soft v neck profile however i have small hands , very comfortable for me.

Vs have a higher back but lower shoulders. Cs have lower backs but higher shoulders. Vs are known to be more comfortable for chording. Cs are more comfortable for solos. (just a guideline).

At the end of the day, what you go for is the one that should be more comfortable to you.

Soft Vs have a lower back and slightly more rounded shoulders, closer to a C, but still not as curved.

The 57 AVRI is a V. not Soft V.

And one should know this:The V profile was something created by accident.

Is there a diagram somewhere that shows a Soft-V, a C, and a U neck in cross-sectional views? Couldn't find anything with google.
