uncontactable/play out buyer thread

shinobi is correct... it is up to the buyer...
as for me, if the person msg me quoting a way low price, i just say no.
then they start to pls la... no $, no work bla bla...
but just fock it.

there will still be interested ppl out there

well, like my layla recording soundcard + behringer preamp.. I've been advertising for 2 years straight. just finally sold it recently. of all hundreds of ppl that fly my kite say "interested" but all talk no rock. finally I get a sincere and nice buyer.

so I'd quote : in the pile of shit, there's a piece of chocolate...

LOL!

bps: in a pile of shit there's a piece of chocolate..

damn i juz woke up and read this.

u makes me day la dey!

blueprintstudio: yes thats what I mean by 1st come 1st served - I.E. cash in my hand, product in yours...

bythe way in Geylang area its 1st served, 1st come...

deathism : hahah mmmmmmmm chocolate..

fgl : yeah, buying and selling to me is a "YES" "NO" question, no "OR" (or maybe... or maybe... or maybe...) saves you less headache. the soundcard took 2 years to sell because I never wasted time with lowballers. I give them lowest price possible include aftersales service + delivery, negotiate lower = "I take it as a no. unless you got what I want to barter trade."
even if those that said "yes" i told them to come over with the money, show it to my face say yes , and I'll deliver the item and the buyer to his house. done deal. no "pending" SMSes or "i'll call you later in a week"

some of them like to do this "I really want to buy but i got not enough money, I pay you half first?" (and they take 6 months to pay the remaining half)
I tell them "instead of oweing me,a perfect stranger money. why don't you borrow from your friends/parents? then you can pay them slowly back cos you know them."

ironically, they will NEVER borrow from their friends or parents. or give me excuse like "they won't lend one la." , "I not your friend or your father you think I will lend?"

I really wonder how some of these fickle buyers sleep well at night.

wow Angman, i had the same experience jus recently, still quite pissed abt it. actually i found out the seller's BNP, and i told him too hi, so if he can drop to x amount, let me know. so a day later, he said ok, he will offer to me for x amount. then i said great and told him i'd pick it up on a Friday (which was 2 days later), and he said ok.

but Friday morn, i surfed the forums and found that he had bumped his posts and later in the afternoon, he posted that someone had bid z amount (higher than my x amount). was stunned but was telling myself he might jus be trying to push for a higher amount. was hoping he'd have the decency to update me b4 our meeting time. but i didn't hear anything from him. then 1 hr b4 the meeting time, i msged him to say i'd be there in an hour. ONLY THEN did he tell me about the higher bid. and then he even added that he would have to deliver but if i were to pick it up, he could let me have it for y amount (higher than my x bid but lower than the other bidder's z bid). wah liaoseh!!! how can??

i smsed him back to say that we already had an agreement wat, so how can he sell to someone else? i told him that if he wanted to wait for a higher bid, then he shouldn't have said ok to me. he didn't reply after that. i went back to the forums to give him a bad rating plus tell my story. he put in a reply on the forum which was totally untrue. he said that i had told him i couldn't pick up until the weekend, that's why he continued to take offers. but i had never mentioned the weekend to him at all!! from the start, we already agreed Friday.

then u know wat's weird? a few days after that, i receive this sms from a strange number, asking me if i wanted the exact same thing for w amount (much higher than even the other bidder's z bid). i have not given anyone else my number regarding this item. so MUST be this same fella right? anyway i was curious, so i msged back to ask how he got my number plus i told him the amount was too high. of cos he didn't reply to my question but he did reply back with a lower offer. i didn't reply and don't intend to. not to this guy, man. he doesn't deserve my sale.

quite a horrible/weird experience...for someone new to this. cos only recently, then i started buying stuff online from direct users. luckily, my other experiences have been quite the opposite, very nice sellers out there. not always tip top conditions of products but sometimes even the sellers are not aware, so i don't blame them for this.

i wish pple would be more upfront and honest about such transactions or at least admit that they made a mistake.

Deal with him at your own risk.

Called me to reserve my guitar stand, I respected him and asked if he was comfortable with price, he said he was. Deal on Sunday (Today), fine, everything was alright.

Meeting time 1.00 p.m. to 1.15 p.m. at Chinatown MRT station (I carried the whole guitar stand down, bulky and heavy, 3 headed guitar stand).

Smsed me at 1.20 p.m. saying got a better deal at Davis. Totally got played out. Sellers beware of this guy. As to your Patrick, I respected you and gave you what they called trust. But you did not cherish it, good luck to you and hope you learn you lesson as I have learnt mine.

PS: Do not waste people's time if you are not interested. Take care.

Regards,
Newbie

basically its like this, if u dont have the MONEY, and ur not sure WHEN u can have the money, don't reserve and don't offer to buy.
Ur just stalling the sellers sale.

i agree too fully man..such ppl sld be kan man! haha

I used to save these numbers as

assh**e01
assh**e02
assh**e03
assh**e04.... etc

WAHAHHHAAAA .... edster - I do the same thing but i list as mofo 1, 2, 3 etc

I will alss never erase the numbers so I wll have the jokers ctc and will be on alert the next time I get an sms from same dude.

But I still believe the first come first served policy i.e. who is the first buyer willing to do the actual trade - not who "chope" the item first, it's worked for me so far

my 2 cents ...

Hmmm.. seems like a lot of stuff like this happening in Singapore. It's simple actually - first time buyers that deal with you - just ask them to pay a deposit. If don't have by a certain time - just sell to the 2nd person.

I've been burned before but I don't reveal names - cause this can start a flame fest. As much as we can claim we are in the right - other people can also make up false stories on us. Who's the forumites gonna believe? Look at it this way - we would soon have hundreds of threads everyone blaming each other in the forums. This type of forum will not be fun. Will be like Cantonese serial drama :)

The last thing the moderators need is to watch over threads like this - cause like it or not - accusations fly and then things get heated up. There will soon be a lot of bad blood between forumites and distrust. Pretty soon - soft will just crumble and will be known as a place that have conmen musicians.

Sounds far fetched? Don't think so. You should see the long time and matured forums don't allow public revealing of names and numbers. There's a good reason for this. It's got to deal with defamation. Not only the person who publish it - the mods will be held liable should a police complaint be lodged.

There is always a chance that we might be wrong. Like this guy who really got his phone stolen - and the seller put his name & number up publicly. Please remember that this is a public forum and putting up people's phone number is against the law and can be constituted as invasion of privacy and defamation. Whatever you accuse people of is only hearsay - means it's your word against his. So who's the forum members going to believe since a lot of them don't know both of you?

Anyhow - it's people choice if they want to publish numbers and such. Like I said - I've been burned a few times before - but I just take steps to avoid it in the future. Some of us want to be police - but to be frank the person(s) has not done anything wrong. However - you can be held for defamation if the guy decides to lodge a police report. Of course it's rare for this to happen. The point being made is - in the eyes of the law - you are wrong and not the other person. You can't arrest a person for broken promise but you sure can arrest a person for defamation. Hate to say it - look at the politicians and you'll know what I mean. Once it's out in the public domain - you're in tricky waters.

Think twice before posting people's name & number - however it's your choice if you want to do so.
