i wanna get a tube amp with good cleans cause thats what i'm going to use it for.. am looking at fenders and vox a la dave grohl. any suggestions? prices and where to buy if possible thanks :D

my fender deluxe reverb reissue is hell nice... really helps get that "fender" sound.

also check out malcom's goblin ( very clean amp ) 10" speaker though. i would prefer 12".

those voxes are erally attractive with teh new price

no more than 1400 i believe

however reliabilty issue seem to be arousing for those

1000 plus. i want it to hold up to my 5150 combo volume wise. chanmin how much is the fender deluxe reverb reissue and where can i get it? oh and the vox ac30 1400 from misse. the workhorse sounds promising. when and where? haha. thanks.

hmm should be able to get from swee lee... list is arnd 2k ... u must bargain like hell.

OH and you should consider converting your 5150 into a 60watt head and cab.

chanmin,

just a question bro, can we still bargain the price after taking off the standard 20% percent discount off the list price at sweelee? thanks..

you mean use my 5150 combo as a head to power another cab? haha what's the difference. how do i go about doing it/

Try looking for a silverface twin reverb, or even the bassman 135 that some boys were trying to sell on Luthers a while back. Bloudy loud and clean - I remember retubing and rebiasing it at Dennis's G77 a while back. These amps should be less than $1,000 if you can get hold of them.

cheers,

Mark.

hmm i know of people who can get up to 40% ... but its mainly who you know etc...must have connections la..i got mine second hand from www.orangeguitar.com
great chap... hes got some fender amps left i guess..

Daryl : what i mean was this. Transform your 5150 into a 60 watt head and cab. then u can bring your head for gigs or jams... no need to lug the 50kg combo.

that's a hell of a useful mod. thanks. does it alter the tone in any way? who do i approach for that mod?

and your 5150 looks stunning. haha i like.

erm... technically it shouldnt alter the tone in any way... but you can now choose from 1x12s , 2x12s, 4x12s.... different speakers... etc... cabinet wood also matters i suppose...

main thing is the portability... and having a lower wattage head. can bring out to bigger venues and let it stretch its legs.

twin reverb or bassman 135 for less then $1000 (even for second hand)? you are not serious, right?

If you look back on Luthers for a few weeks you will see a couple of guys selling the Silverface bassman 135 for $600 or $800. The reasons are the weight (bloody heavy) and the sound - clean, clean and loud (135 watts).

I did see silverfaces for less than $1,000 last year. Bassmans are cheaper due to the lack of reverb, but the sound is nice anyway. Clean tone needs power so that they don't overdrive.

cheers,

Mark.
