hey guys, recently I want to get a TS pedel from the internet. Because I cannot try it , I need you guys help and suggestion.

I am comparing TS808 KEELEY one and the hand wired one, all the vedios I have watched are from youtube. Some may have good quality but some may not.Hence I cannot really say which one is more suitable for me.

If you have any suggestions or you have tried both please drop me a word.

cheers:)

The HW is much much more expensive. At the price point you are looking at there are others that should be on your list:

Plus which Keeley mod are you referring to?

thanks for reply, but does the HW sound really better than KEELEY modified one?
I am a vintage player and also a SRV fans. for me,ts808 is the one that must buy, but the only thing I am comfusing now is between HW and keeley.

SRV actually used the TS-9 more, not the 808. I don't have experience with either but they should be similar in some ways since they're both basically tubescreamers. From what I know, the keeley should have more gain, both claim to have less bass loss and lots of transparency and the HW uses better components.

The best way would be to go and try other TS type pedals that are here in sg so that you know that you're not paying extra for something you can get here for lesser.

thanks for reply, I considered TS9 before, but after search some vedio on youtube, I realize that TS9 is much more suitable for boosting the amp.May be ts808 is suitable to be a overdrive pedal. Hence now I am only considering on ts808.

However, its hard to find out the difference between keeley and HW by watching the vedio on youtube. This is because each vedio have different quality, and there might had alot of compress after they upload the vedio,it might affect the sound quality too.

Anyway I have to try them and then I can tell the difference

Both are suitable for boosting and thats what they're most commonly used for, SRV used it to boost his cranked fenders etc.. Don't think you'll get the SRV sound by using it as a main OD.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Youtube isn't the most accurate way to tell if a pedal is what you want but . If I'm not wrong a member here has the HW, Whitestrat is his username. Hope he chimes in here.

Yeah,I did expect to get a excactly same tone like SRV by just using a 808 OD pedal.
For me I am planing to get 3-4 pedals such as 808,others like:mod tone clean boost for boosting the amp or 808. Plextortion for playing some 80s rock.
I think its fully enough for me already.
Lastly, if you can memerise the member with HW, pls drop me a pm, may be I can get some information and suggestion from him.
Thank you

His username is Whitestrat if I'm not wrong. He had a thread on it some time back, you can use the search function and find it. That should help you with your search.

Dude SRV never used his TS as a coloured OD tone. He used it as a large volume boost to slam his tubes to overdriving, sometimes employing 2 TS as well. A modern band that does this 2 TS thing is Arctic Monkeys as well.

Yeah man, thats what I told the OP earlier haha. To add on, I think trey anastasio uses 2 TS as well.

Is the BB a TS type pedal? Didn't really sound like one when I tried it but it doesn't really have that Marshall crunch that people says it has either haha. What is it exactly ah?

SRV used various Fender and Dumble tube amps. Please remember this very important, but always overlooked, fact, when people go tone chasing. They think that having a drive pedal into some random amp they will make them sound like some artiste immediately.

'OH HEY, I WANT TO SOUND LIKE [insert artiste who uses a tube amp with a drive pedal as boost] I AM DRIVING A [insert random solid state practice amp] WITH MY [drive pedal artiste used] BUT WHY THE HELL DON'T I SOUND LIKE [afore mentioned artiste]!'

marshall crunch on the BB? Dun think it comes close but it works as a TS for me. I like it for it's transparency and also it stacks very well with your existing pre amp or even other dirt pedals.

Works for me but of cos its not a universal thing.

:)

Yeah, I didn't get what that either.. can't hear any crunch in the BB, its more smooth and compressed. I agree that it stacks well with other pedals.
