yo people..realli apprecaite some help here..since i saw quite a number of plp trading the Le online and city music jsut selling off several pieces a week ago..i figured there msut be quite a numebr of new triton le users out there.? figured i start a beginers' post.

for its price..its a great board..but i am puzzled but some thigns..pardon my beginner's ignorance!

1. i noe all the patches in combi and prg mode can be overwritten but how do i like create my own combi form scratch and store it NOT under an existing combi.registration bumer..i.e meaning sotra as an additional patch instead of overiding the preloaded one.?

2.sequenced songs can only be saved to external media..?wa lan...tats bit sucky.....and why issit after i sequence a few tracks..save the song..then i load another song, to start creating a new song, the prev song's sequencing will be imported automatically.?

3.isit possible to save a song into smart media, then play it in sequencer mode , and then exit to normal combi/prog note to play along while the song is playing.?so far i cant exit from sequencer mode to play other patches while the song is playing...i need this for live jaming..example....i.e preloaded strings and piano chords in the background auto playing while i still do my lead playing.

realli appreciate the masters and lao jiaos here to guide me ..ahaha

wa.....looks like withe my questions too simple or too chim or not many peopl have the triton....sob sob....

managed to figure out a bit of the sequencing question of my own.....saving presets, chosen patches in a song and playinging back in the sequencer and live playing in sequencer mode as well..but a bit mar fan...

and hoow to use preloaded /default combination patches in my sequenced songs..so fai can only choose fomr the programms list leh....

any more help..pleassssseeee

aireydon, you tried looking in the manual? there might be something on that.

yup i did, the manual isnt very helpful..been reading for a week..it kinda leads u elsewhere to more complicated stuff.....

for example it doesns' t show how u can play back yr song in sequencer mode and play in another mode at the same time, it simlpy goes into the details and functions of the various modes..(o/e combi, prog,seq...)

i would say its organized in a way not for the jammer keyboardist, but more for a sequencer composer keyboardist....

LE

hmm been using LE but not the sequencer mode.

u can redo a combi from scratch but have to rearrange your patches and presets in order to save em..

which means.. i suggest u store ur current settings in ur smart media. then rearrange/overwrite ur own combis so that u can always call upon ur previuos settings should the need arise.

for programs no problem as there are lots of free space in bank D for u to customise and store your own stuff.

hope this helps, i'm just a plug and play keyboardists man.. heh will need help too.

Hi aireydon,

First know the basic concept of Korg's sequencers..

1. When you play a song on the sequencer, you can change only to those instruments which you have alotted on the 16 tracks. You cant exit to program or combi mode while sequncer is playing.

2. For your own synth programming, Just initialise a combi or program and start editing.

to do this, a program contains 2 oscillators and a combi contains 8 programs which means combi is more powerful than prog as you can have more room there. Combi basically very impressive for Live playing as the souds are quite fat and presentable than the ones in program mode..

Any way, catch me at SOFT's meeting on this saturday and shall be able to answer your questions..as I am with KORG fof years !!

I also came across the hard way by digging around the keyboard...Read the manuals too as KORG makes one of the best manuals than Other synth makers... :D

Peace,

ZIM

hey zim

U sound like you are well versed with the LE. Can u help me? I'm a Midiot :) but i'd like to know how to solve the issue. When I import a SMF downloaded from the net into my Smartmedia, how come when i play it, all the 16 tracks are displays A00 as it's sound, an in some cases the sounds are jumbled up.

thanx

Ez

yes.. that happened to me too when i playback the midi using my Yamaha Motif, all the sounds jumbled up. but when i playback using PSR 2000, it was perfectly fine.

Wonder anyone know why...

2 possibilites
1) SMF has 3 modes. Perhaps the Triton is not set to receive the correct mode.
2) According to Triton Heaven:
"Maybe you have not the GM Program Change mode selected. Press GLOBAL, then MENU, and select the MIDI page. You will be able to select the KORG or GM2 ProgramChange mode. Write this setting in memory using the "Write Global Setting" command under the page menu."

thanx

thanx man..

I'll try it when i get home.

aaron..I own an es6 but yet to play midi files with it, prob has to do with the global settings as well.

regards

Ez

Triton Workstation Course

Hi there

Perhaps you might wanna consider taking up a Triton Workstation Course at City Music Centre. S$180 for 6 weeks course. Email to

marketing@citymusic.com.sg

or call Canna @ 63377058

At the end of the course, you'll be able to:

1) Design your own sounds
2) Manipulate Effects and Arpeggiators
3) Harness Sequencing capabilities.

Cheers!

wow thankx ZIM..and u other guys too! its great seeing responses and help in this htread after first few days of of "deadness"...

and i do agree the combi mode is more powerful, indeed the patches are more fuller.love most of the paches ther compared to prog mode.

now i've more or less resigned the the fact that i only only jamm live and playback backing tracks live only in sequencer mode also figured out how to save the files properly too! after 3 nights then i figured all alll the CORRECT savings and loading for multiple songs to and fro, without accidentally overwriting this and tat..wa lan...

but now i can switch btw patches with the knob while the sequencer plays simple backing tracks, it s realli fun for doing nightwish and bonjovi songs! not to mention rock ballads.....i thik the sequencer is the true gem feature in the LE, but like many said which i have to agree, the piano sounds have a distinct "key hitting" sound sampled into it,,the notes dun blend nicely when u do arrpegios or broken chords ,,hmmmplus..somehow.it sounds a bit distory and sharp..compared to roland and yamaha....

but how to use combi sounds in the sequencer mode?

and how to delete files in the smart media.?

and how to complate del just a single track in a fully sequenced song.?

ahah.seems that i m a shameless beginner squeezing the brains of the experts here...
