Installation guide.
Ok folks here goes, firstly I hope I did this properly, I've gathered my info from the instruction sheet and various experiences from several online forums. I've tested it out and it works like a charm.
I've installed the T-no on my main guitar, a '97 Ibanez Jem77FP with a lo-pro edge trem. You'll need the proper tools for this, a screwdriver, an allen key for the mounting block screw, and maybe a pair of needle nose pliers for installing/removing the trem springs.
Grab a cup of coffee, light up a smoke, or just grab your guitar and run with it.
Step 1.
Open up your trem cavity by removing the screws (duh!), mark out the edge of the trem claw with masking tape. The reason for doing so, it's a rough guage for where it should be when you place in the T-no.
Step 2
Remove the trem springs, you can do this by using a screwdriver (not the nice dist shredcow pedal
). Do this slowly, you don't want to cause any slip ups and scratch your percious baby.
Step 3
Once the springs have all been removed from the original trem claw, Remove the claw screws, those 2 big ones drilled into the body. I'm not sure whether it's necessary to block the trem in place, but I did it for insecurities sake with a nice little jar of pimple cream.
Step 4
Once the claw is removed you can now remove the grounding wire which has been soldered into the trem claw.
For those who do not know wtf the grounding wire is, it's that silverish wire which is soldered on the claw shown in the picture above.
The manual states that you should unsolder the wire using a soldering iron, I don't have one with me, I just cut it away using a wire cutter.
Step 5
I have skipped off a few steps and crimped the grounding wire into the screw which is located in the T-no Claw/Shaft Assembly. The manual states that you should do it as a last step. Blame it on my tinkering excitement.
Step 6
Now it's time to screw in the T-no Claw/Shaft Assembly, this part is pretty self explanatory from the pictures. If you really must know, simply wind a little of the grounding wire along the screw and tighten it.
Step 7
Install the springs into the claws in the T-no Claw/Shaft Assembly. Again be sure to do this carefully preventing any tools you're using from creating a irreversible gash in your guitar. Once you have installed the springs, tune up and setup your guitar, make sure your trem angle is the same as it was before, or whatever your preference may be.
Step 8
Slide in the Deep-C assembly into the Shaft, be sure to align it as shown in the picture. I've taken my reference from the T-no Demo Video.
Step 9
Now install the Classic Receiver/Tailpiece, tighten the mounting block until it is snug. Do not go overboard. You'll risk damaging it.
It is very important to ensure that the Classic Receiver/Tailpiece is perpendicular to the trem block, which means to say that Shaft of the Tno has to be parallel to the trem springs. If this is done you should not hear anything or feel any obscruction when you're using the Tno in full floating mode.
Ok installion is now done.
Now how to use this beautiful piece of metallic engineering...
Hardtail mode.
Tighten both screws located on the Classic Receiver/Tailpiece and you're all set. As mentioned before Kevan has included a safety mechanism which detaches the mounting block from your trem if you move your trem in hardtail mode. Hardtail mode is amazing, great sustain, mine rang for an extra 5 seconds, unison bends and pedal steel licks sound amazing. Chords with your palm resting on the bridge are all in tune now.
Dive Only mode.
Tighten both thumbscrews on the Classic Receiver/Tailpiece, then slide the Deep-C up to the Classic Receiver/Tailpiece and tighten it. Drop D tunings will now be possible.
For additional stability and strength you can tighthen the 2 screws located on the T-no Claw/Shaft Assembly.
Alright folks we're done, I hope you guys found this comprehensive enough, and I hope my pictures don't screw up the bandwidth of the site.
Christopher.
