hey Edder
as i mentioned i need your advise on this
so here goes
out of the 16 pedals these 12 will be the ones that i will be using for the performance
non of these pedals have any mods done before
so in random order
1.Boss FV-50h
2. Boss cs2
3.Mxr/custom audio electronics -Boost /line driver
4.Boss ac3
5.crybaby 535(no Q) this is the first version where the knob black rubber
6.ibanez ts 808
7.EHX Metal Muff
8.Mxr 10 band eq
9.Boss Tr2
10.Arion stereo chorus sch-z
11.Mxr EVH phase90
12.Boss DD-20

in which order shold i place them to maximise each pedals potential tone?
any mods i should consider ?
just advise me on anything that would help
oh and i will consider your suggestion the 2 channel looper
thanks ED
i owe u 1 :D

1. Boss FV-50h (using for volume? put it first on the line)
2. Boss cs2 (somewhere in front if you're squishing your cleans, after the drive pedals if you wanna "sustain", end of the chain if you're in a noiseband to prevent huge volume spikes)
3.Mxr/custom audio electronics -Boost /line driver (what are you using this for? boost the drive for solos, push the drive pedals to even more drive?)
4.Boss ac3 (probably also first on the list, after volume pedal before wah?)
5.crybaby 535(no Q) this is the first version where the knob black rubber (depends on how you use it, but typically before your main drive pedals)
6.ibanez ts 808 (before metal muff)
7.EHX Metal Muff (after TS808 )
8.Mxr 10 band eq (after metal muff)
9.Boss Tr2 (end of the chain if you want the tremolo to go CHOP CHOP CHOP, before delay for some trippy delayed tremolo)
10.Arion stereo chorus sch-z (try it before/after delay, to taste)
11.Mxr EVH phase90(some like it before the drive, early in the chain, some like it after, try it)
12.Boss DD-20(normally at the end of the chain, with tremolo/chorus around it)

ooh. the overdrive before the distortion?

i prefer the warmer tone of placing my overdrive after the distortion

does it affect my ability to cut through in a band mix as a result?

mileage might vary according to individual...

for some, stacking od going into higher gain pedal, its a form of boost, using something gentle to push something bigger, beyond the range of operation. Even in some gainy pedal, the circuit stage design seem to be of multiple stages of circuit, the one before, pushing the one after, into another stage of operation.

for some pedals, if having the milder pedal after a louder/gainy pedal, the gentle characteristic instead of pushing the operating range higher, will sorta weaken the sound. Of course this is subjective and according to the pedals i have tried. Heh, one thing fun about pedals usage, always be, what work for some, might not work for others. As long as one is happy getting a sound that inspire playing, its all good

to cut thru a mix, its more of frequency balancing of various sound/instrument, not just in term of one instrument having more gain or another pedal pushing the limit of operation range higher or simply louder than the rest of sintrument, imho.

anyway, just try whatever can be done, sooner or later, the sound will come to us and not us go looking for the sound.

have fun more important

it's a mix-match/ trial-error process. for me, it depends on the pedal per se: my Tube Zone sounds quite repulsive placed before a distortion, it works better with a mild OD/ Dist boosting it.

I am in favour of having 3 gain pedals, 2 low gain, 1 high gain, set ALL the gain knobs to less than 9 oclock, that way, you get a thick heavy distortion. I don't have the cash for a 2 liquid sunshines just about yet so I'm using the subdecay blackstar as some kind of a replacement since its a 2 stage gain pedal.
