My one and only encounter with Malay rock was during the 2 days of Rentak Asia 2000 http://geocities.com/rentakasia/index.html
I found Ramli Sarip and the accompanying ad-hoc members of the Rentak All-Star Band* pretty entertaining.
Pity about the rest of the G3 concert thereafter ... :?
*Singapore rock icon Ramli Sarip will lead the Rentak All-Star Band comprising guitarists Man Kidal, Hillary and Yantono (Indonesia), drummer Yazid, bassists Andy Peterson and Jay Jay, keyboardist Iwang (Indonesia), percussionists Ramli Reban and Steve Thornton, flutist Mohar and guest vocalists Amy, Jamal and Mohd Albar (Indonesia).

yesterday i saw the akedemi fantasia 3, amy and awie comes in.
they talk about their suffering.. lol...
and erm... amy was a piano tuner at yamaha music before he becomes a singer .. lol.. lame.. he lied his aprent saying he go KL to have a holiday but the fact was he's having an audition at a club. 2 weeks later come back, kenna fired by yamaha music. he become singer.. and join search.
as for awie.. lol.. never pay rent for 5 months ... sell rice at jalan imbi, kl.
