The Bassist's Effects Line Up

were you thinking of destroying a small country with that?

ah .. it contains secret ion cannon weapons ... hee hee hee ... now bow down!! .. ANYWAY ... i just tested it out live today ... very clean, transparent and warm sound. Made my bass sound like my bass ... shiok ...

Radial makes good products ... somemore this DI is the lowest model already ... yeah and it really kicks ...

go for the JDI man ... =P

hmmm... everyone using radial nowadays...
how much was the passive di? y not the bassbones?

I got this from Hung Brothers at 150 bucks.

I wanted the active ones ... the Pro48 which was at 220 ... but didn't bear to spend the cash yet ... just needed a DI that does what i wanted it to do ...

I saw the JDI ... it was 300 .... yeah ... good stuff and again ... no $$$ .. =) ..

They didn't have bassbones ... don't think anyone brings it into singapore ... didn't try asking them whether they do custom imports though ...

anybody have any idea how the rolls db25 direct box is? it's apparently a very small DI box but i haveno idea how the sound quality is.

other than that, any suggestions for a budget DI box with clean sound? I was looking at the IMP2 and the behringer DI400s, which are basically the same thing. Not too sure on how the Behringer would sound though.

I'm not sure about behringer .. they make good products ..but if you want budget .. you can check out Proel DI box .. can't remember the model number though .. Luther brings them in ... i saw one before and it's quite a solid DI box ...

ROLLS give me the impression of a cheapo brand ... hahaha ...

aiyar... full name is "rolls rfx bellari" if that ups the atas value for you ;)

anyway, look how tiny the thing is!

The DB25 is a transformer balanced, passive direct box. It features a Ground Lift switch for hum elimination, and an Attenuator switch for padding the input signal by 20dB, or 40 dB. Padding the input signal provides a way to connect the DB25 to a line level signal, even a speaker level signal and connecting it to a balanced line or Mic input on a mixer. The two 1/4" inputs are paralleled for guitarists to "pass-through" their input signal to a tuner, pre amp, etc..

ehhh ..

i never trusted the two "input" thingy ... not stoked about it .. =) .. go for radial lah josh ..

superkicky said:
its not 2 inputlar. it's a parallel in/out thing, like any other DI :p

oh .. izzit? >. hahaha .. okay .. they said "in" what .. never said out or thru or link or whatever ... well okay .. if that works for you i guess it works .. =) .. D.I. boxes function the way they should ...

actually what would you use your parallel out for? haha.. i use it as a headphone jack.. but i suppose that's rather silly

mxr m-80 by the way.. endorsed by Justin Meldal-Johnson, beck's bassist

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iatcMvCXTM

okay.. it's very blatent show-boating on the dunlop products, but it's built like a tank! anyone not happy just zham face! black somemore, wont have blood stains onit. -)

Because some places don't provide a DI box :) You plug your bass into one, use the parallel out to your amp and send the balanced XLR signal to the FOH mixer. It's much easier to get a direct signal than it is to mic up a bass amp.

ooooh, okay
okay.. the three outputs on the mxr m-80 are these

output (1/4" to amp)
parallel output (1/4" *shrug*)
direct output (XLR)

haha.. i almost thought i was so absent minded that i didnt notice that the output that ive been using the amp was my parallel output, but is true! i do have an extra output! for running two amps?

@superkicky: Wow that's really a comprehensive pedalboard.

My pedalboard only consists of a Hartke Bass Attack and a Chorus pedal.

i have the same thing, minus the chorus pedal

Not really :P Your 1/4" parallel output will only send the uneffected signal from whatever you have before it. The "normal" output sends the EQ'd and/or overdriven signal to the amp. I guess the parallel would be good if you want a tuner out :)

hey superkicky, what happened to your sparkle drive? i'm looking for a light od pedal which retains lows and sounds like tubes overdriven. sparkle drive looks to be the solution compared to a bassdriver. what's your opinion having owned both?

thanks! makes sense now.. i'll just stick with headphones out for recording for the time being =)

Uh.. it's with Field of Caracal right now. It's a good pedal, just that I found something better :) If you don't mind spending a bit extra, find a used Boss BD-2 and send it to Randolf for modding. The whole deal shouldn't cost more than $200 to find and mod the pedal.

Of course, your best course of action is to sit down and try both, and see which suits you best...

hur hur hur ....

Ibanez DE7 and MXR Super Comp to come in soon ...

i'll post pictures when i have my camera ... really .. =P
