The Bass Picture Gallery

the body is 2P alder bound to a flame maple top... so wad ur looking at is flame maple. there's a transparent amber finish, so the maple isn't naturally that yellow

because of the carved top, the flames look a *little bit* quilt-ish

haha yes i especially took a photo of the bridge for that. but i was too lazy to take off all the screws to show the shielding. when i do i'll have my camera on hand (or rather on the tripod)

i was quite surprised because it was freaking smaller than the plain old stock bridge. i emailed hipshot to confirm. but in the end i was quite pleased. and it is darn solid. since it was "hipshot" i had to pay a premium. i would have easily gotten a gotoh if there was one that fit

dang i agree.
im using a hipshot bridge as well.
for the price the badassII/gotoh would have done the same job.

considering the fact that my bass has stock dimarzio's, if i installed a BA people would think that i was using my father's bass from the 80's.

anyway i've read of stories about how BA bridges cause the bridge action to be raised significantly and...

... i think it's ugly

that might not be true in your case -- it only really raises the action if your bridge is on top of the body. if it's set in like yours you may not run into the action issue... but hey, hipshots are always good :)

something confuses me about the badass II bridges.

that is, what are the saddles at such a sharp angle on the part where they touch the strings?

isnt' this bad for the strings as the sharp angle will cut into the strings and eventually snap them?
