The Bass Picture Gallery

i reckon the black with a tortoise pg would look much better, but nothing beats the jag in sunburst with tortoise pg.

I hate most fender basses..... but when i played that black jag bass....well i changed my mind. But the looks are subjective man.

Bass Of Doom is an urban myth!!! Even if they found it, no biggie cos sadly Jaco is dead..... sheesh.....I always love his work with Weather Report, perfect eg of an excellent bassist playing in a band context.

Ok la..... '60s jazz basses kick ass lah.... played one before.... for first time in my life wished I had become a banker or drug trafficker

Agreed...I once had a chance to play a circa '67 Jazz bass acoustically...even without an amp, the tone and resonance was so incredible that it made the hairs on the back of my arms and neck stand.

The same was true for a '65 P-bass I tried as well, but this was through and amp - wickedly warm.

i had the good fortune to noodle around with a couple:

1964 jazz bass (lightest bass i've ever carried. shit it felt like plywood!)
1969 jazz bass
1970 jazz bass (MINE! MINE MINE!!)
1970 precision (dude offered, but i thought it was too expensive. now kicking myself)
60s mustang (beautiful aged oly white finish, but the frets super dented)
1972 jazz bass (MINE!!)
1974 jazz bass (dude offered, but i thought it was too expensive. i still think its expensive)
couple of 77/78 jazzes (OMG really super heavy man)
1977 stingray (the besterest best SR i've ever heard, beat to death too. MINE!!)
1979 stingray (stripped. i sold it away for $1500. was i stupid? yes.)
1979 sabre (wah lau, museum piece. i can't even bear to look at it)

but the nicest bass i've ever tried has gotta be the fodera. i tried a 4 stringer one... super slim neck, extremely well balanced, neck joint to die for and killer sound.

bass of doom!

Fender Mike Dirnt Precision Bass

Hey anyone here tried the Fender Mike Dirnt Precision Bass???
Wonder how it sounds compare to 62' P Bass

My bass, Nozomi.
Japanese Fender 62' Jazz 3 tone sunburst upgraded with Hipshot Vintage Bridge, Machine Heads, Tuners and Xtender, Gotoh pots with Orange Drops, Bill Lawrence J-45 pickups, DR Extra Life Red Devils and a very nice RDM Spork Bag to keep her in. Super proud of her.

um im not sure what you mean exactly.
are you asking me is the output hot?
or how does it sound?

Prob the hotness of the output.

The MIJ basses rock, a pity no one can get it cheap on the sly direct from Jappie land anymore.

btw its pretty hot. you can check out the audio clips in the bass review section.
i got it at quite a steal...but after the upgrades...T_T
well i wont be selling her anytime soon anyway.
