The Bass Picture Gallery

wow it has certainly exchanged many hands, but still looks obiang as ever. muahahhaha... during mosaic music fest i saw a jazz bassist with a US lakland, maple fretboard awesome quilted maple honey orange gloss finish, AWESOME.

mm... but for 2.4k i can get an EBMM SR, the US lakland is wayy much more than that...

Wow very very lovely Jazz bass and it's vintage too :) May I know what is that black piece of thing just below the bridge pick up ?

they call it a thumb rest .. but i have no idea why the heck it's placed there for anyway ...

hahaha... bloody idiot of the previous owner nailed the thumb rest there where the bridge cover sup to be... i just closed one eye to it cos it played like butter... tested it for a good 4 days before i made the purchase

Thumb rests are usually placed closer to the neck pickup. if you look at vintage fender jazzes or re-issues, they have the same thumb rest but closer to the neck. if i'm not mistaken this was done cos they thought the bass players would play the bass with their thumbs exclusively, thus needing a place to rest their fingers while using their thumbs to play. So the "thumbrest" wasn't really a thumb rest.

Sweet JBass! what year is that from? Looks like it's from the '70s.....

Don't mind me asking, but it looks like the bridge pickup has been swapped out for something else....what's that?

Feel like a dumbass now, just read the post again and realised that it's a '77

And superkicky, I think you're right.....it does look to me like a Bart.....

damn i'm gas'ing for:

either an Ibanez 605 (the MIJ one)
or a LAKLAND 55-02 dlux (i cant afford a US one :()
AND

Its a 1977 J bass, swamp ash body with maple neck. Bridge pickup was swapped out and lost. Current one is a lace sensor.
