Straps

I wanna go low.. slowly so as to not hinder my lead playing.

I'm from a different school.. I think slinging low = harder to play and greater chance of injury.

You go low, you have a guitar that's pretty unstable... it swings easily. Yeah, it is great for moving around, getting the guitar to "move" with you, so to speak.. however, its definately unstable.

2ndly, you usually (usually ah) have to strain to get at some notes so in the long run, you might hurt yourself. Esp when you have to stoop (like a monkey) to reach down.

Hmm.

true. but I'm not going so low that I play at my knees lah.. (I'm not planning to emulate Mike Mushok) just maybe that the guitar hangs just under the belt.

There's really no hard & fast rule to how low one can go.

Its up to your physical build.

Just note how your body reacts to it. Not many things can be more important than taking care of your body and looks is definately not one of them.

kid_slacker, I'm the same age as you are...

My Planet Waves strap is not leather...it's cloth...I play pretty low myself...the end of the guitar touching my knees...that's the lowest I could go, lol...if not PMing would become a real problem...

I don't know but for me...I prefer playing low...cause when I play at the belt position or higher, I would accidentally hit some open strings whereas playing low, the strings are muted by my palm...

Play bass guitar, but replace the bass strings with guitar strings?

I have short fingers, strapping low, no can do man.

lol i'm 142cm. THAT's short. i also use the planet waves straplocks. and i like to hang high. the bottom part of my bass is above my hipbone when i play. i find it hard to play anything at all when i hang my bass low.

hahaha..we shorties shud meet up.LMAO..

well..for me..i dun rilli play tt low..cos its uncomfy...

summore my bass is darn heavy..and its neck heavy..but playing slightly high is kinda cool..in a sense tt..ermm...how do i put it..

my hands can go up and down the fretboard easier.

my back hurts like hell now, tried playing as low as head and munky

anw does any1 noe where i can get denim straps...............

Lol, wouldn't removing the 3 high strings would mean you can't play solos...

If you can accidently hit strings unless you play low, I gather you don't play any solos. Why waste money on 3 extra strings.
