That's a really interesting comment on it. Do you dig Slayer? They're like somewhere half in-between.

Nope, I don't like Slayer, other than the music, which I find quite... pardon me, boring, I cannot agree with their lyrics lah. :)

Those death metal bands I can stomach, i don't listen on a regular basis, but I think I can take them because they are usually melodic with the music and their vocals are quite clear. The band, Death, has a very very good, clear vocalist.

Perhaps I don't like Hardcore because I cannot connect with it. With melodic death metal, I probably wouldn't like the lyrics, but I enjoy the play of guitars (I'm a guitarist) while on hardcore, not only am I unable to connect with their themes (lyrically), I can't make out what they are singing plus I find their instrumentation quite boring.

On the other hand! I could be getting old lah... hahaha...

Shredcow listens to Death and Carcass? Thats new to me although I'm quite new here. I thought you're into 80's metal at most. In what ways death growls are clear? curious to know that.

same here..i hate the bloody karate dance..i got into a fight once..

the stupid kid had his hands flailing all over..and it happened to hit me NEAR my balls..

and he accused me of hitting his hand..and he pushed me.well..i din really give a damn..as i walked away..he kicked me from the back..haiz..

these kids..

yea..of coz i retaliated.not gonna say how i retaliated or where i hit him..but

i got him in ALOT of pain.

hardcore may not seem as technically advanced as metalcore or emocore
but there's a message behind every song. unlike those 2 genres.

i'd rather listen to a band with a soul and sound basic then to listen to a band without purpose or real message other than "i want to beat you in your face" or "I want to die in your eyes" kinda message with a great sound really.

but i dono what herida profunda means but their cd kicks ass!

yes i listen to hardcore.
i like YOT, shelter, good clean fun, strike anywhere, gorilla biscuits.
i love defunct lchc bands like kindred, anaconda, swan, jhai alai.
but now i prefer eason chen.

Do you mean Raw Hardcore?, because Hardcore in itself has a lot of genres i.e. Metalcore, Post Hardcore, even Happy Hardcore.

I don't really like defining genres because it's quite an edgy subject and who's to say what's what (I think the band Converge is Hardcore but you might think it's trash) and from what I know/ been told as I used to listen to lots of PHC - Post Hardcore is different from Hardcore itself in which you can actually make out the vocalist's shouting/ screaming voice, yet Post HC still contains complicated guitar riffs of the hardcore music genre but clearer and the bass lines are usually quite complex. I find P-HC very intriguing, probably because the way it gets to me. Then again as long as I think the music's nice, I'll listen to it :)

post hardcore is totally diffrent from hardcore
hardcore is hard to understand too much sub genres from hardcore but sounds diffrent actually
okay what am i saying
im just into both old and modern hardcore

sounds to me that hardcore originated from punk rock.
screw the technicalities and just play something...ANYTHING!!!

i'm just likening all this to the old indie fartish conversations i get into with my friends.. *heee*

"... you HAVE to listen to this new band!"

"what? you never heard of [insert] ???"

"ohh.. its like a mix of 70's pop and a tinge of blur, but the genius lies in their arragnments when some Bowie sneaks up right in the middle of verse 2.."

but.. genres just help to organise and group things together, and seriously.. its much easier to sell a product when "it fits" certain tastes -)

not that there's any harm in it, being able to classify music helps one to describe what one is listening to

but why did i even bring this up?
