Something BAD happened across the straits (Msia)

my friend told me she was very scared that something would happen to them when they were going by coach to cameron highlands.
"what if they hijack the bus!?"

i've only visited malaysia once and that was in the middle of the night in the coach, it was a 2 day 1 night stay at genting. the only memory I could think back was seeing a house on fire, 4 firetrucks, on the way to genting.

I went to malaysia and someone asked me for 10cents. I said no cause i didn't have change.SO he grab me by the neck.I asked him to follow me to a shop and then i bought a chewing gum and gave him my 60 cents change along with the chewing gum. Then i smiled at him.He left.
Friendly?
When i go to Jb.I always keep my money inside my underwear.
Safety first. And i wear something like when im going to play soccer.
So they won't think im a filthy rich singaporean.
We are lucky that singapore is very well governed and save.
So cheers!

inside underwear ? wow.. next time i better not use hand to handle my cash liao

somehow ive been to JB many times but nothing much happen to me lei. maybe i look like a local to them.

im not surprised, my friend had his bike stolen right in front of him. couple of guys pulled up in a lorry, put a plank down, wheeled the bike up and drove off.

yeah few years back my uncle visited malaysia with 1 more friend to eat.
at the end of the day, he had his dinner and went to his car wanting to head back to SG.

there came this malay guy telling him his family got problem etc etc all the pity stories, asking for money. Well since my uncle was heading back already and there's only little money left, he gave all to him (which he did the right thing)

the malay guy head back to the back of the alley and join this big big group,
with motorbikes, baseball bats, helments, knifes in their hands.

Maybe if my uncle didnt give him the money, that will be it....

really sorry to hear this...

i live in jb, my band is in singapore, i hear alot of such things, i never knew it's become so bad?! such things have never happened to me living here...

Ok don't be rude now. :\ Well how do they tell if you're a local or you're not a local? Are you trying to say it's the way Singaporeans generally act around Malaysians that allows them to 'detect' that we're non-locals? Like perhaps some Singaporeans enjoy boasting and stuffs?

If that's the case, then perhaps we're quite to be blamed too.

First thing, why did that guy say "oh this malay guy came up"

Like dude, so what if he's malay? You remind me of my friend who tried to get away with not doing it on homework in secondary school by blaming his "indian friend"...

I think best thing to do in malaysia is, stay in hotel, go out to shopping centres and stuff before 11 at night, dont go clubbing or all that bullshit when there.

what do mean how do you tell? its the same as how aussies tell their kind apart from asians, thus causing the racist incidents in australia(straits times dec 22).

how do you think they managed to tell who is aussie and who is asian?

This is singapore and malaysia, not aussieland, in aussieland the skin colour is very distinguisable beteween asian and caucasian. Here in Singapore and Malaysia, Malays , Chinese, Indians and Eurasian all looks similar. the only tell tale signs is the way we speak, act and dresses that tells that either we are Singaporean or Malaysian.

This threads is just trying to tell us to be careful that's all :) Don't deviate to other issues :)

cheers

well, I'm just back from a holiday at my relatives' place at M'sia. What I heard is, corruption is pervasive on all levels there, so if you want something done fast, you have to pay under-table money to people at all levels. So a minor repairwork which my uncle undertook ran up to $1000, when it should have cost only $100.
And that's one of the reasons why in M'sia, the rich are obscenely rich, and the poor are dirt-poor.

The reason people use underhand methods and stuff is because of the government there. We cannot compare malaysia with singapore, cause the 2 countries are totally different altogether. The people who complain most about malaysia are also the ones who frequent there the most.
