So, what's the deal with ibanez guitars?

i wonder... if I got a nice Ibanez SZ... mahogany body with maple top and set mahogany neck... string thru body via Ibanez's own take on the TOM bridge...Dual humbuckers... Is it 24 3/4" scale? I cant' recall...

How close would I come to the Gibson LP tone?

I don't have a gibby but, comparing my SZ prestige and burny LP, they're no where near each other. LP tend to have more chunk and it produces excels in producing those lower mid-range frequency tones. The SZ on the other hand has less sag and more treble. It has a tighter bass response. I wouldn't call it thin but it doesn't have as much body as the LP. Just my take.

You don’t see many players play Gibson LP because of the price tag in Singapore. To make fair comparison, do you see many people play JEMs and J-customs?

The deal with Ibanez guitars?

1) Their superstrats kicks the ass of lots of other brand of superstrats we know for 1 reason or another.

2) Their locking trem kicks Floyd rose's ass (no, Edge/ZR aint floyd rose, they are floyd rose's derivatives.)

3 onwards) (others to insert their reasons)

hmmm sadly I cannot stand Ibanez guitars because too many guitar snobs/noob I know use them. Call it guilt by association!

How about Ibanez basses? I like the weight and slim neck but hate the fact that it does not keep well in Singapore AND the passive models are craptastic.

we must not forget that there are the non-distortion inclined players who are into the other Ibanez models, not just the pointy head ones. Metheny, Benson & Scofield are but a few among others...

To me, its simply the way they market their guitars. Obviously the marketing for the RG series is excellent, bcos many Ibanez owners have an RG series. Perhaps its the superstrat shape that appeals. Perhaps the fact that Ibanez makes killer shredder's necks. Maybe its the tuning stability and reliability of the floating trems. But i do beg u to look beyond all these, go and look at the S series. These rival LPs in terms of visual appeal and they have a wide tonal palette. Perhaps its personal preference but i do feel that Ibanez is one of the best around.

now..i do wish that the S series had more visual appeal..

(slightly thicker body, nice inlays, nicer maple veeneer)

the S320's body turns me off..but i want a H-H guitar with the ZR..no..i cant afford the S520EX...its near 2k.. :x

S-series with thicker body? that's where the SA series come in 8)

the S320 is a wonderful H-H S-series to own, not even $1K...
