WOWWW nice replies folks, and honestly, i appreciate all of them. ALL.
now. im not here to diss ibanez, i dunno whether you think i am, but pls open your eyes.

i did state im not here to diss ibanez. i just think most of their guitars have the very generic "electric-guitar" look. Im not talking about the pgms which i trully drool over at times, or even the artcore, or heck, even the noodles model one.. its JUST generic!
and this is my 2 sens worth! im not here to hurt anyone.. you have a choice at what you want to buy. i for one, have seen one too many guitarists with the ibanez guitar into a GT 5/6/8 or a pod xt into mixer or amp. i mean come on..
and im not talking about custom designs here. please. i dont have that kind of money to spend.
NOW.
if you're talking about fenders and gibsons, they're not that common, cos of the head shape, which can be so beautiful at times. in fact, i do think that the fender strat is damn common too. but i REALLY dig the tunes coming from the neck pup of most strats out there. so go figure..
About LPs, those
can be common, but i dont think they are common. and im talking about genuine gibson LPs. call me a brand snob, but i still think that owning a real gibson LP or any gibson guitar for that matter, makes you love your guitar more, and feel shiok owning her.
yes, you can play the "playability-over-looks" card and the "bang-for-buck" card, but come on. lets face it. part of you plays the electric guitar for the glam and/or shiokness factor. tell me thats not wrong. just a small, oh so small part of you wants to rock out and have fun on stage with your mates making music, cos its fun, and it looks COOL. correct or not. this can be applied across the board from home wanking post rockers like pathein bro, and 80s hair metalers like edder bro!
now, about what gear i own, i own a mij 52 RI telecaster fitted with budz purebreds, and a mij jazzmaster with stock pups.
the reason why i got the tele initially was not for the twang to be honest, but because the guitarist of the now-defunct band The Rasmus owned one, and played some awesome riffs on it, and i wanted to emulate that. but it was over time that i came to appreciate my tele for what it really was.
and the jazzmaster? indie cred. HAHA.
no la. just pulling your leg. i really digged (dug?) the finish on the JM on the ishibashi website, and it was going for like 900 sgd, so i thought, why not man.. and i found i can get really awesomely "clean" cleans if you know what im saying, with a JM.
