SLAYER in S'pore (photos added in gallery)

The gig was awesome man although it was short and no encore.. Was the turnout dissapointing? I was at the front and couldnt see the back. Did soft take pics at the concert? I dropped my camerafon while takin photos during raining blood. Luckily it was safe and nobody stepped on it.. PHEW!!!!Pls post more pics... :D

yes i agree the set's a little short as well. and the crowd turnout was quite disappointing, but nevertheless slayer played well! dave's drums were so effin powerful woooo

Drewgie: Can't fault the band man. As Araya puts it - it's problem wif 'management'

Yeah agree on the part of the $125-ers. In the 'post-Rollins' era, everyone wanna have fun but we couldn't. Now they let us have fun but we don't know how :)

Rgding the turnout, if Sepultura could get 40000 in Jakarta (or so I heard), then I think tonight was ... well ...

Anyway good night for now n talk again tomo ...

Oh yeah, I couldn't hear Tom Araya speaking properly from where I was, what was he talking about when he mentioned 'their management'? And what song did someone shout which Tom replied to saying "they weren't allowed to play it?"

Cult I think it was. They also didnt play Disciple either, i suppose for the same reason

I tot it was for The Antichrist.

Yeah I'd prefer Cult to Eyes of the Insane. But my all-time favs are the songs from Hell Awaits/Haunting The Chapel. Kinda was waiting for Araya to say his piece on 'six feet under' hehehe ... :)

Hey, is that the setlist at the bottom of the photo of Kerry signing the poster? If so, I think some sings were skipped ...

Yup, that was the setlist. They had to cut out a couple of songs due to "time constraints" (exact hand gesture done by Tom!) Anyways, just to set the record straight, they couldn't play a lot of songs from their normal catalogue cos MDA nearly cancelled the concert. So their setlist was really restricted. For me, it's like a double edged sword. At the end of the day, let us all just look at it as Slayer touched our shores and rocked the house!!

i think the set is ok...i dig their old songs man...
JVD bro ..how does this compared to Kreator enemy of god back in kl sometime back..

and i feel the total tone change after one of the amps blew..
did you guys hear that???

haha i didnt know an amp blew.

carerot, audience doesnt choose the songs. they have a setlist and they decide the songs before they start. Chant all you want, they will only play whats on their setlist.

Penguin: I know you were not addressing me but don't mind if I actually answer the comparison between the two gigs. I attended Kreator back in KL and I have to say the crowd is bit more wild in Malaysia. They were climbing up 15 feet high beams and moshing! It was a bit insane. PLUS, the venue at which Kreator played had wayyy better acoustics than last night unfortunately.

I love Slayer to death, and was right up front at the $125. I was a little disappointed as I thought it would've gotten a bit more erm 'wild' , but nonetheless there were a lot of small groups body-bashing and surfing. Dont' forget that the security up front was keeping a very close eye on us, and the minute something looked 'violent' they stepped up to either pull a guy off or to sorta give a 'warning look'.

I thought the setlist wasn't that bad, and to go on that ferocity for more than 2 hours is difficult. Even Kreator's gig back in KL was around 1 1/2 hours, Mayhem early on in Singapore and when I was back in Perth was 45 mins to 1 hr! Megadeth I attended back in Australia was around 2 hours, but Dave gets a chance to rest his vocals quite a bit cos his songs get a bit more melodic. Most metal gigs last for that length anyway. Majority of Slayer tunes are also in the 3-4 minute region.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. YUP, I wish there were more people who attended. I didn't get to see the B and C section, but the 125 did feel pretty packed and squishy - but I guess that's cos everyone was pushing up front. Still was good, and still got to see Slayer! I wish I hung out back to meet them, but my legs were aching and my neck too. Back to KL it is for me today.

Peace bros :)

slipknot was more energetic and had a better mosh. it was just more fun.

I was trying to get the few guys behind me to try and start a small mosh in the $85 section but they didnt.

nocturnaldekadence yes you are absolutely right..security is a major pain..
but hey they got a job to do man...i miss the kreator one man..
what a waste..

i also agree that the FOH low end tone not tight enuf and the drums like got excessive reverb...haha..
anyway its nice to be able to witness slayer perform
