skreddy delay!!!!!!!

Skreddy: (it's the kind of digital that samples in the multiple-MegaHertz range and stores the data points as one bit--basically no loss of resolution when played back into the audio frequency with a simple integrator and low-pass filter) The chip has very good fidelity up to about 300-something milliseconds, but past that point it starts getting grainy and hissy (like a worn-out tape, not like the bit-smashed, lo-fi sounds of old digital delays). Basically this limit is due to the small amount of memory storage on the chip. So I'll just double up on the chips to keep the tape-like quality all the way past 500ms. The PCB layout won't be as elegant as the single-chip version, but at least I can get the clean long echos I want.

No new prototype of the long/clean version has been produced yet. I've got lots of other stuff to do first, but maybe later in May I'll make that. No idea yet when these might go into production or what the price point would be or what the ultimate feature set would be. I'm inclined to stick with this prototype's basic format, though, other than the afore-mentioned mirroring of the controls.

This is amusing considering he wrote this article:

The guys making the empress trem is also making a delay. The prospects of that one even more shiok. Considering they will be using the features on the trem on their delay also. Might be the thing i need. A good digital delay with tons of tap tempo options and a tone knob to emulate warmer tones like the t-rex.

He does mention this in his article though:

Technology Improvements
I think that the emerging 24 bit/96khz standard is a move in the right direction. Unfortunately, the consumer audio CD format standard is still 16 bit/44khz for the time being. The next big thing, however, is called DSD, Direct Stream Digital, by Sony (see http://www.dsdproaudio.com/html/dsd_sacd_explained.html)
By sampling a signal at 2.8 Mhz (2,822,400 per second) using only one bit (On/Off), the audible result is virtually indistinguishable from analog, and the capacity is increased to 4.7 GB for the same physical size disc. The dynamic range is also increased to beyond 120db.

Maybe this new pedal he's working on is using the technology he's talking about.

Aye, now even Skreddy's out with a delay. I'm looking forward to the units from M.I Audio though.

Tap tempo?

Check out the eventide stompbox delay (not released yet), the Pigtronix Echolution, DSL Effects EchoTap and Damage Control's new delay unit with tubes...

The Echolution gets my fingers itchy... and its not too expensive @ USD475...

at the rate that our society is moving and benefit of the workforce that has to keep up with the pace, they shud have dont that long ago! Especially for referal to imh.

I agree with them!
