Dude, the only thing shameful about this is how closed minded Singaporeans are compared to our neighbours and other countries. You REALLY need to lighten up dude. Your mentality and closed-mindedness is what kills the mojo of our country's creatively AND affects how other countries view us - for the worse. The fella didn't even condone what the girl did. He's just asking for an opinion to the issue of what someone else did. In the end, the only lame statement I'm seeing is one that shows the rest of the world how closed up and narrow-minded we are as Singaporeans, comprehendo dude? It's like how people still ridicule us for our chewing gum ban and the Michael Fay incident eons ago. People still remember that stuff. Similarly, sweeping an issue under a rug by not talking about it would be entirely silly. It'd make us look like peeps with a communist mentality even, where an opinion matters less than your productivity as a human being.

As for how weird that can be --> well dude, you really need to travel more often and look at the rest of the world because if this is considered weird to you, you are a victim of being way too spoon fed. There are people who kill living monkeys to eat their brains, wild sex orgies, satanic rituatls and sacrifices, people who believe they are vampines, terrorism, capitalism, cults, necrophilia, etc etc that is far worse than a girl selling used panties. People in Japan do it in vending machines, and people in Japan also eat other people's sh~t, literally, at cusine restaurants. But somehow I doubt you could say Japan's economy is anything to laugh at, nor are the people ashamed of their country. In fact, they are looked up to by many countries, INCLUDING Singapore. Yet they are open minded to have bukkak3 parties and have one of the largest porn industries in the world. I'm not saying we should strive to be like them - we should learn to form our own identity - but what i'm saying is... Open-mindedness isn't reflective of a nation's pride my dear friend.

You should refrain from being against this topic in the future dude and jsst accept it with caustic reluctance. It's better than say, having someone in another country go "My God, do Singaporeans actually get all strung up over such trivial issues as a forum discussino about a girl's panties?!". And that's not even from a condescending liberalist! Comprehendo?

Be a good boi boi!

Nowadays, human 'creativity' growing along with technology :P

Anyway, about the issue at hand.. ebay influenced is it? Think can sell anything. lol.. but sure, used panties can be sold to people who wants to buy, well, anything can be sold as long as there are buyers.. but personally, I think it's sorta disgusting considering how unhygenic it is.

From a female's point of view, I do feel ashamed to read news like that though, because I'm sure girls can do better things to earn money than lose their self respect. But otherwise, dunno... it's her business to do what she thinks works. Her loss is in the end, still her loss and her own consequences to bear.

But I can somehow figure out a possible idea of why she does this. I mean, she owns the underwear and probably have alot to spare (Not sure, but I get the idea girls got alot of underwears..lol), and she's schooling. If I read the correct article, then she'll probably be in tertiary education at the moment and if I understand right, it is quite a hectic life.

Sure she could get a proper part time job since she still has arms, legs, and a working brain, but thinking about it entrepreneurship-wise, even if it's supposedly not really a good idea in terms of selfrespect, it's quite an interesting approach. She has the stock, she knows she has the buyers available, and what more, she don't have to rush between work and school to earn the money she wants. It's her convenient way of doing business afterall. It may not be a conformity, but hey, it works!

Like mentioned, people in society are coming up with more and more weird extreme ways to do business or live their lives, so we should start to accept all these because in a long run it may very well become the common thing! Also, accepting may not necessarily mean to agree that it is right, but it's better than to stay close minded about what's not common.

The rest of us need to lighten up also. Dont need to jump on fuzzmusick. I am sure he meant well.

This is a real social problem that we are all facing. From bad manners to violent behaviours. If not attended to, we might create a big problem for ourselves in the future.

Yes, there are many more weird stuff out there but we do not have to think that they are OK. In fact, they are NOT ok.

geez...is this the SOFT i know? or someplace like sammyboy or hardwarezone...

lol.. wats wrong with that?? i'm going against it... i feel that its still not a rite way to earn money although its fast cash....

she provide service too.. omg.. haha... $60 for 15mins talking to her on phone... $100 for 30mins on phone..

-SOFT

hey james.. wats your point of view on this anyway? :)

We don't have to think they are OK. But not talking about it or getting uptight about talking about it won't solve the problem either. It's like President Bush ignoring the problem he made worse in Iraq. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away.

As for the girl selling her panties online... she has some quesionable morals but all in all, I personally feel that it's her panties to own and sell. It's more troubling to think of the person willing to splurge on them when he (or she --> you never know!) can spend that good money on say, buying toilet paper to wipe our a$$es or a nice meal or movie. But still, maybe these people need a naughty sniff here and there to prevent them from becoming deprived rapists. Or perhaps these are the beginnings of a rapist. I don't really know, but all I can say is, the girl selling her panties online will probably get the last laugh with the cash. She doesn't really need to give a damn about the person who buys it.

+1... great point of view... thanks:)

LOL.... den there will be a good market in used panty... maybe u'll see ppl setting up stalls for all these...

I see old lady about 70 years of age collecting cardboard for a living. I have the utmost respect for them.

If I have a friend who needs help, I will try my best. I just hope that the abovementioned girl has friends whom she can turn to.

apalcos... what is your point of view then? rule of the game is to state your point of view before asking for others. else it becomes another whatcanwedotoimprovethelocalmusicscene question.

me? there are no longer any valid morals in todays society. you'd be surprised what goes round underground if you're shocked at this panty thingie. i'd say, for those who have a good functioning brain... use it dammit... and don't expect the garmen to teach you all "Common sense" in school.

but seems like she is enjoying it... she earn big from it.. seriously... she has sold almost all her items online... new updates will be gone in mins.. and each cost 30 bucks... but anyway hope things will be better if she really has a problem...

Hmm, speaking of becoming common...
Imagine uncles trying to sell their underwears also... or aunties with really big ah-ma panties... disturbing leh.

You guys say she has a problem, but from my point of view, perhaps she is smarter than we think. So she degrades herself by selling underwears, but that doesn't necessary indicate that she has issues. If so, then perhaps a big population of this world not exposed to the media for us to know has issues as well - the world is mad.

I feel that, what is really worrisome is not this girl's mental state of mind, or her customers. But the people who are aware of this. Sure a big part of us would be thinking that she's shameless, and all that negative crap, but what about those who doesn't think this way? What about the younger generations who are aware of it as well? It'll be a real issue when people following such an example starts to exist. More girls start doing the same thing thinking that it is a quick and easy way to make money without having to sacrifice much of their time or do hard labor, and for all I know it might even start from girls not even in secondary school yet! And I really hope that will never happen, but you know... "Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong"(Murphy's Law)

As for my point of view.. i think this should not be allowed in singapore.. If the buyers are adult is fine but this will get worst if it spread to teens.. You can seen teens are getting more and more 'mature' these days.. wearing school uniform watching porn in an underground cafe.. having babies at 16 or even younger.. If the market for selling panty is getting bigger in singapore as its easy money, teens will think that singapore is encouraging 'dirty' stuffs.. The worst thing is the girl who is selling is a teenager... wat will singaporeans be like after 20 years? i dare not imagine...
But if government really allow this.. hope they will manage things in a way that not a single person who is under the age of 21 post their panty for sale or buy a panty online.. if caught underage will have a heavy punishment..
or maybe government shd have a whole sale market for used panty with tight security so no underage can enter the market...
We must think of our future kids, grandson, great grandson.... don be selfish for jus a monent of pleasure...

anyway.. haha.. i'm a teen myself... but me stand is hope government will put this to an end...

i hope it wont happen too... hmmm... but we can prevent it b4 it goes wild..
MORAL EDUCATION....(very important)

Sad to say, I'm quite sure there'll be no end to these whether 20 years down or 50 years down the road. Government can throw in fines and lawsuits but does that really stop us from doing things we shouldn't do? Governments can't do everything. If you really want to prevent, better off to start from friends and family. Teens themselves sometimes listen to friends more than authority/family, and do you realize that when authority says no, you'll hear teens going "haha, let's try it one of these days, see if really so unlucky to get caught."

That 'the more you stop me the more i'll do it' mentality still strives.

When against these sort of absurd real life social circumstances, I don't think moral education works anymore or even come close to teaching such things unless the teacher cares enough to bring it up. Scully parents think the teachers corrupting their child or something with such immoral stories.

Some things can't depend on schools, education or government to settle, because alone with how WE ourselves mature, it comes from the surroundings we find ourselves in during our growth. It comes with experience to know what is right and what is wrong and not fully from what is being taught. Study moral education and CME throughout the 10 years of compulsory education and I think people more or less heck care it the first few years, but many in the future will still hold on to a good set of morals to live by that they gather through their daily events alone.

Sorry if I sound like I'm against some of your views even if it's considered a good approach to solving the issue, but I take psychology so this is how I actually feel about it after understanding the going ons in human behaviour.

I dont think that this is a new phenomenon. I've heard or read about this before: schoolgirls selling undergarments online, cant remember if it was Japanese or American kids....Maybe it's the first for an SG girl? (or rather first case that we KNOW of?)

I wonder if any ladies, men or "others" out there with this kind of fetish would wanna buy my used, soiled and funky smelling underware and if so (and if it was legal) would there ever be such a thread in the buy / sell forum here in soft?

I wonder....

How come the Ah Peks at Sungei Road selling the same things (panties) and yet no one wants to buy them? Buyers are really picky ya!!!!!!
