Singapore Flyers Power Failure!

helicopter ? HAHA you must be kidding!

they can only heli evac the top part. The other parts, NO WAY!

The blades will hit the wheel.
Seriously, I wouldnt mind staying up there for 6 hrs and windows open. :)

I calculated and it's a huge loss for them.
The batch that got stuck totalled up to about 5000+
During the period of time they got stuck totalled to an approximate amount of 63000 dollars based on the number of people they were holding in the stuck trip.
However, if they were expecting a full house that day, that would total up to 282000. Excluding the stuck trip.

wow...dats a huge amount especailly in these bad financail times..

While there might be failures - there should be a quick way to evacuate passengers. Either a backup motor or a manual overide of some sort. 6 hours is a very very very very very long time to be stuck. Pretty much like going to school and coming back after classes. Imagine if there was a fire - goner for sure. By six minutes everyone would have suffocated or be burnt to death.

Can't get the name too - Singapore Flyer? Reminds me of flyers that people give out in shopping malls?

Now it got me thinkin..lol...They would suffer much more than Kerplunk182 mentioned considering new year's tourist arrivals. Come to think of it, I have yet to even ride it, now it stuck, I am afraid to ride it..lol..

maybe they should allow us to wear parachute or something, so we can just chute down when it happens *touch wood..lol

not only do they lose tickets sale,
they still have to pay for possible compenstaion to the customers,
like say for example, the food they send to them, the hospital bill etc.

a chute needs at least about 100ft clearance to open up. so i guess you'll fall to death before the chute opens up.

well yeah it's dangerous if there are fire but i'm pretty sure they took 6hrs because there is no fire.If that's my company and if i can have the time to evacuate the people i will want to do it slow and safely. I will rather risk the money, ppl's flight, big business plan or the urge to go toilet then falling them to their death. All those doesn't matter compared to a live saved.

This problem could be solved in less than an hour if the engineers have ever thought of a manual override to manually turn the wheel using big ass gears if there's an emergency.
