Singapore Drum Festival 2007

Thanks mel80 for the reply, I managed to find the tracks after googling Nate. The songs are amazing i would say, Nate knows when to put the right notes. :o

Hahahaha even it's Singapore DrumFest 2007, the judges are very fair and it must have been pretty tough for them in making the final decision as the Finalists are really good - all of them, but a competition is a competition - there will be a winner.

I have people telling me the same thing - "Hey the winners are not Singaporeans in both Category - and that means we have to drum harder from now onwards to get ourself prepare for next year 2008 DrumFest and it was really a very fair decision though tough made by the Panel Of Judges" - Now that's a very Positive Attitude, inspiring and motivating.

Drums-On Bros, participants will have a year to get themselves prepare for next year but what's more important here is - We gain an invaluable experience of what a Drum Challenge is all about and how it goes about and this build confidence cause we will know whether if we are ready...either way - we will all be drumming harder to betterment in this area and that's healthy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS: - Maybe nearer the competition for DrumFest 2008 (if there is going to be one)....It might be a good idea to incorporate more than the usual (Once in a month Soft's Drum-Exchange & Meetup to 2) in Soft to cater for those who want to take part in DrumFest 2008 Challenge (just an idea - depends if you all want it - we can managed that here).

This helps alot, as local participants push oneself/one another to betterment, but the most beneficial here is - It builds one's confidence, as you feel more comfortable knowing - Hey Most Of These Participants Are My Friends ......Of course it depends on how ones look at it this way (very subjective here - but must be positive that's all)...but overall it will foster closer relationship, encouragement thus confidence (which is very very important here). We all know it never easy for any participants playing up there on stage with so many people (especially the Professional Judges around).....it might help if one on stage knows- Wow.ww all my Kakis are here supporting me lah - and that my competitor challenging me also up here besides me is my Close-Buddy, anyone will feel better in this kind of situation & feel much better, away with all fear - doesn't matter who win, less pressure & just have fun then...which makes alot of differences in one's playing - maybe can play exceptionally better I guess....

Next Year - SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'VE GOT - DO YOUR BEST - IT'S REALLY NOT A MATTER OF WINNING OR LOSING - IT'S THE SPIRIT IN DRUMMING & BROTHERHOOD ALTOGETHER HERE. This is what matters most.

Boon did a fantastic job man. I just couldnt believe the event happened. Its a dream come true and the effort to go all out to boost the local drumming community is just fantastic.

Thanks Boon.

the clock's ticking bros...... let's all work together and take SG drumming to the next level !!!! \m/

3 cheers to drumfest organisers!!! if i could i would hoist nigel and boon up myself

I have spoken to James and had agree to let us Soft Drummers & The Organiser Of DrumFest (Boon of course) to have this "Singapore/Asia 1st Ever DrumFest 2007" as ................"STICKY"....till our next 2nd Singapore DrumFest in 2008..comes along.

Thank you James for kindness & understanding.

This is a Great Event, A Most Wonderful Experience for us all Drummers to remember !..So...........................Bros you got Pic - POST IT UP HERE...Lets SHARE......

No Video however must be posted.

Thank You !

Darren dude, no filming of video was allowed at the Drum Fest. Only the authorised filming crew was allowed to. The crew was very professional though. Hopefully they will come up with a DVD for the Drum Fest to commemorate this historical event :D

Bro Daren - there will be no vids on this Singapore DrumFest 2007 here (not in Soft for sure).....I do not know if the organiser will put it up on their own site, but I do know DrummerWorld will most probably put it up for Singapore DrumFest 2007.

I think I would like to give all Soft Drummers here a little idea/info on the Organising of the DrumFest 2007 - not as simple as it seems.

Just a Few Question for you all to ponder about it: - here

(1) How much do you think the Organiser have to cough out in Hard-Cash to bring a 2 day event like these to all of us ? - - - ever wonder

It's more than S$250,000.000 (a 1/4 of a million bucks) my dear Bros

(2) I did mention there were ZERO (NO) Sponsors at all - just supporters Bros here.

(3) Do you all have an idea - How much it would cost if the Organiser were to put the entire DrumFest 2007 into a DVD? ....remember there need to be alot of Professional Editing and so on - to come up with DVD on this Entire Event - cost (just let you all know - in Hundred of thousands probably again).

As a common understanding all my dear Drumming Bros here - The Organiser can do the DVD of course and they can also do many other things - but to do all these - WE NEED SUPPORT from each & every Drummer here in Singapore especially. We are not talking about (you helping the Organiser get Sponsors - that's his baby)...BUT...a very simple one - JUST COME & ATTEND THE DRUMFEST but truly there were so few Softies Drummer there - This I know when we had the Special Queqe when getting autograph from the Artist - much to my Dissapointment too here.

Generally, if we want good and latrge scale events like these to carry on - there need to be alot of supporters (by going & attending the DrumFest as in here).....Lets be rational, we live in a World where everything is not FREE one lah - go toilet also must pay S$0.10 Hahahahaha..

It is not cheap to bring these Professional Reknown Drummers into Singapore for sure. I have receive quite a number of people telling me - S$200.00 is very expensive lah....How could that be? - you fly to US and see them largi expensive....and here the Oganiser brings them right to our doorstep just for S$200 - expensive meh.....( I'm sure all those who attended the DrumFest knows it's worth more than that S$200)

No hard feelings - I thought it is only right and fair to let everyone knows - Such a Large Scale Event like Singapore DrumFest 2007 is not an easy task to manage & organise - Huge sum of $$$$$$$$$$$ is involved..

I sincerely seek you brothers to try to support Events like these by participating...unless we support one another here - or else no Organiser will ever dare to bring Large Scale Events like these into Singapore ever....

The only one Person I know who dares out of his passion also to benefit each and every drummer here in our community is none other than Tan Boon...He deserve our every respect & support.

My dear Bros - Please support Tan Boon..he is a great guy. I am just stating the facts that I think should be disseminated to all here

Cheers

Eric

PS: - Oh and yes - the next one in August is - Thomas Lang Clinic Masterclass - PLEASE ATTEND - It's really great to be able to catch Thomas Lang here...

To continue where Eric left off, I do agree that considering the caliber of the drummers on the Drumfest lineup, the ticket price is well worth it.

Maybe everyone can starting saving now for next year's event! It's also good thing to save. I mean, in an unfortunate event that you actually can't make it when Drumfest 08 comes, you can still use the savings to get new gear or something. :D

Never mind! Marcdadrummer! Practice hard. If there's next year then you go for competition! I sure support you all the way! :D

I'm going to give this a shot.

Anyone remember what snare did Gorden say he was using? I remember someone in the audience asked him and he replied. But I can't remember what he said at all!

i can only remember that his wood hoops on the snare cracked and after every song he tightened, the crack just gets bigger and bigger... 8O

Wah! Really?

All I remember was the very first instance he hit he snare, I was like, "Oh my god! What snare are you using?"

Then when he break for Q&A, the guy asked him that question and it was then I knew I wasn't the only one who was taken by the fab snare sound.

But damn, just what make was it did he say???
