Singapore Drum Festival 2007

Details are scant now. All we know is...

It's a Yamaha wood hoop snare.

But what type of wood? What size? What series?

This is killing me.

wah ... u gals realy like that snare sound ah? o.O

if i remember correctly, its a snare belong to nigel at drum resources. think its DW 14inch x 5.5, if not maybe a yamaha gadd. never asked about what wood though. likely a maple, but my guess as good as urs until we confirm this.

nigel used to often take it out to let people get a feel of wood hoop snare. i used it at a couple gigs that he supported. ok la.. this snare not really my kind of taste, guess its up to personal preference  *sweatdrop*

that said, u must also factor in who is using it, venue and so on. also, the mic-ing technique used.

from what i saw at drumfest, the snare and the snare mic might have not always stay on optimal mic-ing position. a good round tone plus generous strength and stroking will make a lot of difference.

Its a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute with Wood Hoops. Me and Smildrumz were like straining our eyes looking at the cracked hoops through the video display when I saw the snare badge.

Hehe, ya plainsman, I love that deep fat sound! I hear already I want to hallelujah.

And OMG! Thank you shred5!

Do you remember if it's a 6.5" or a 5.5"?

Yay! Mystery solved! I can sleep well now.

Yes - and Drummerzone is the Largest Drum Forum in Europe - almost head to head with Largest Drum Forum in the world DrummerWorld....

We are waiting for DrummerWorld to put it up there for Singapore DrumFest 2007.

Awesome! Let's hope that in the years to come, more 'made in Singapore' drummers can leave their mark on the world map of drumming!

All I can say really is that Tan Boon had made us all proud (as Drummers In Singapore), as Singapore DrumFest had really put a "Mark" for drumming in Singapore not only locally but on the Drumming World Map, - as the 2 Largest Drummer's Forum in the World put up Writeups, Pictures, Videos (probably later) and Reviews on our - Singapore Drum Festival 2007....

Singapore is a very small country - but at least we are not so small now on the area of Drummings as the Western Drummers now knows that - Drumming Is A Happening Thing In Singapore.

and I strongly believed DrummerWorld would be having something - on our "Singapore Drum Festival 2007" very soon.

Three Cheers To Tan Boon & Singapore DrumFest !!!!!! .... " You Made Us Stand Proud " .

Agreed. All this wouldnt have been possible without Tan Boon and gang's effort and generousity. Let's all remember that all this took a huge amount of planning, time and not to mention $$ to put together. As drummers we should be grateful and lets all do our part to support Drumfest 08 and other similar events.

Just a thought though... Is there going to be any DVD released for Drumfest 07? I for one would like to purchase a copy, after all its quite a historical event for drumming in Singapore, and one I am proud to have gone for :)

Dear Drummer Friends,

I'm excited to inform you that Singapore Drumfest, the 1st ever and currently the only International Modern Drum Festival in Asia, is being featured in the "backbeats" section of the December 07 issue Modern Drummer Magazine.

To me, this is like a collector's item. Singapore is undoubtedly on the global drumming map from now onwards!

Pls do go and get it if you wish.

Thank you for all the support!
