SIM Musicians

My perception of SIM students are like NSFs.. They just want to come, get cert, then move on... I think SIM students are busy with many out-of-school activities, i.e. Their own bands, businesses, part-time / full-time work, etc.

haha bro I totally get what you mean. I know we've been through this and I have to admit to your conclusion man. The culture is just so dead and everyone who seems interested just can't break through.

got abit of a misunderstanding, i didn't say LOCAL BANDS, i said LOCAL bands...

that means bands with LOCALS in it

cos the few bands that i've seen performing at events mostly comprise of international students

cannot be advanced member of guitar club, he looks too cool already

eh no offence to guitar club ya

if there are so many muso's in SIM then why don't we have any um... LOCAL bands playing for our events (that happen from time to time)

If I'm not mistaken, I think the performances are being engaged and channeled to the guitar club and the singing club already. So engaging local bands would cost money and given the current situation of the school (building new building lah, no more snacks lah), it'll will be kinda hard. I miss my refreshments!

Oh!! Woops haha. Yah they are like damn active. International student week or some similar events along that line.

i dont really miss the snacks, because everytime something nice is served, the GIRLS will swarm around it and kope everything. bloody pigs. when the food is average they are suddenly on 'diet'

**start flaming**
in a way you can look at it as one club supporting the other clubs lah, but to me it's more like the student clubs that handle events and activities are quite lame, they dont know how to outsource properly and hence run to the other clubs that are equally as pathetic. but then the 'pros' dont get involved in clubs that are pathetic because they have better use of their time. a chicken and egg dilemma.
**end flaming**

the only difference between a club in SIM and some student initiative is the financial backing of the school. they can be equally (in)significant in most other aspects

how about we start a SIM musicians club thread on soft? or is that BANNED? i need to think of a number to chope first

parking in SIM is a pain in the ass now. today i couldnt find a spot which was less than a 10 minute walk from the canteen (lots were deep in NP). after circling aimlessly i found a parallel parking spot but i fear some kayu driver or A.H. might have langgar or scratch my car without me noticing

Happy New Year to all of you. Just thought we could use some updates. I finally bought my Pedaltrain JR at Blackwood guitars last saturday during the sale. Very pleased with it and I can't wait for my setup to grow. woo!

I'm from SIM too! UOL BSc Information Systems and Management final year!

I think a fair amount of students are quite focused on studying... Although
a lot of us study and work at the same time (me for example). I don't think
the culture is that dead lah... It really depends on whether you bother to
participate what... I used to be in dragonboat but kinda go caught up with
work and all so I had to quit. Oh, and I joined Talentime once with SeekZ
(yeah, he was from SIM too!) just for the fun of it. Haha!

Wah siong ah. Work and study is the ultimate already. I'm in my final year as well. Damn packed with deadlines and what not. wanna jam also need to think.

saw another electric guitarist as he was leaving campus

if only there was some kind of concert or music festival in sim....

SIM student

Dear Buddy!

I'm from UniSIM and I'm a drummer, percussionist.

I always believed that SIM has got a rich pool of talented musicians. Maybe, we, students, can jam one of these days. After exams would be better for everyone I guess

Do take care and keep in touch:)

lets form a sim school band together man

hi to all sim musicians, i am in sim for almost 2 years, but yet never really got a chance to meet sim musicians to jam together etc, play music aso, i think mainly is becoz its always a 3 hr lecture everyday, come n go home, then the cca timings are not very good aso,so dint join the guitar club etc. I am looking to gather sim musicians n form a school band together, to perform for school events etc, promoting the music culture stronger in sim, i welcome all musicians from sim that are interested in forming the sch band together to perform for sch activities gigs etc, drummer, bassist, keyboardist etc, lets come together and play music together. i know music genere might all be quite diversify but i think its gd that we all get started together, please add me on msn: thorpedoo719@hotmail.com, or a faster way is sms me at 81000302 saying yr name n wat instrument you play, stuffs u like etc, hoping to pool sim musicians together, i know time schedule is tight for everyone coz need to study work outside activities n so many thing, but i think we can work out something together. hope to hear from all sim musicians soon, thanks alot.....

SIM RMIT here... if its difficult to set up anything in sch or anything.. then lets all just get to know each other, and JAM or even lunch. the bigger the music network the more we can learn from one another and to maybe even session for one another or anything of sorts... noobie or experienced, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.. so hey lets gather.
