I think it's possible to define twang, just that it's ultimately hard to convey it through words without the person actually having seen a country/rockabilly player play. I'll define 'twang' as a sound produced which is not dependant on the guitar. Country players have used LPs and 335s and still 'twang' a fair bit. It might just come out better on a tele.

heh.... but explain why rock/pop/any other genre guitar players other than country searching for TWANG in a Tele when it doesn't even matters to them.

TWANGGGGGGGG!

I love marketing catch phrases!

aiyoh relax la edder. not everyone (like myself) knows the correct terms to use to describe certain tones.

to me the tele bridge sound = twang = gritty, bright. i don't think the term is limited to only a country/rockabilly context. keith richards uses this term almost as much as he does drugs.

incorrect usage? maybe. overused? definitely. but to dismiss it as simply a marketing slogan and diss people who use the term is kinda angsty ah...

edder angsty? Hardly i think, like some of us, bitchy horny and itchy more likely nowadays. After all, angsty sell 1kg also worthless i guess

hur hur hur hur.... i had overdose on angst and depression in the 90's. After all it was the golden years for grunge and hardcore.

now i'm OD-ing on pure bliss. Cos now its the time for speedPOST(tm)ROCK and ArtFag soundart.

My take on people using these MEANINGFUL adjectives is that they like to project to their listeners that THEY KNOW what they're talking about.

hur hur hur~ take a chill pill ahseng... take a chill pill.... overdose on blisssss....

om... om.... om.... TWANGGGGG!!!!
