Hi,
I wanted to know if Swee Lee provided restringing services and how much would it cost because I bougth a Epiphone SG and i only had it for 1 month when the string turned rusty.I think it has been on display for a while, hence the rusty strings. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :-D

Errr dude.. I change strings every 2 weeks cause it gets rusty.. Heh.. Singapore mah what you expect..
Well it would cost roughly $20 with the strings.. Not sure if SL does it though..

yeah just get a pack of strings and learn to do it. you gain experience and save time and money as well.

Lol.. Murphy's law can be a load of crap sometimes..
Why can't it be anything that can go right will go right? Hmmmm.. Hahaha

dont think he's trying to find out if it's a budget guitar or what ..

more like he wanna know if it's a 3 by 3 or 6 a side tuning machine and so on so as to guide u how to change string ? :)

Hi we do provide Restring Services. Do drop us a line for direct quote : 6336 7886
But i do agree that if you know how to restring yourself, it saves a lot of money (to buy more strings of course.. :D) in a long run. ;)

Strings usually last about a month, for players with sweaty palms, it may last a week or two.. very subjective.

Cheers,

Does strings get rust within 2hours with sweaty palms? I oftenly wiped the strings only after 2hours of playing... If this continues, will rust or not?

After playing, clean your strings then apply GHS Fast Fret. It's like a oily-ish substance that helps to prolong the life of your strings by a lot (it's definitely worth it considering how many less new strings you'll need to buy). Before playing clean it off to prevent your strings from feeling too slick.

Hmm. get coated strings like black diamond or dr's.. Im using them and it doesnt rust at all. ( for the meantime )

and it really saves you alot of dough.

Cheers.

or you can always get cleartone strings.
cause they don't flake like most coated strings. :)

and it's normal for strings to rust within a month.
maybe you have sweaty fingers.

ever wonder why display guitars can be up there for months yet the strings never get rusty? and then when u buy one and use it for 2 weeks and the strings become crap?

that's because the strings tarnish due to the sweat from your hands. rule no.1: wipe down after play

yeah wipe after play, and learn to change strings yourself... saves u lotsa $$$..
i got sweaty palms and find that wiping down your strings lengthens the life.. meaning wont rust so fast..
:D

I think every player should know how to change the strings. If you go to a guitar tech to change everytime your strings gets rusty, its gonna cost you a lot of money and time wasted on travelling. Spend wisely and use the money to get other accessories for your guitar. If you do not want to change your strings frequently, get the Elixir strings but its gonna cost you more then 3 times more the normal strings. You decide.

i've always felt..if u love ur instrument..why save on strings...its like owning a car but scared to spend on petrol...just buy spare strings la...i have like 20-30 sets available anytime..and also cos i do alot of maintainence for Shades Of Amber..cos i am their Guitar Tech..
