Yes, I agree that Mizuno should be on the list. They offer some really good running shoes.

However, my vote goes to Asics. My old pairs were the DS Trainers, and I just got the Gel Kayano 14 for a very very good price. The Asics guys came down to my unit, and the prices were very very very good. Even gave a free feet analysis. Sometimes being an NSF does have its perks!

Been training for the AHM in the Kayanos, feeling real good so far. Great cushioning and stability.

I worked the DS trainers hard, but they're still pretty much intact and going strong. Good shoes, if I might say!

Hahaha... I agree with the rest about Mizuno. How come no mizuno? Mizuno really quite good.

I'm using Wave Creation 8 right now. Freaking comfortable and can help me tahan all the long distance runs we're doing for AHM training now.

New Balance all the way, I find them the most comfortable, durable and bang-for-buck. I find a lot of Nikes overhyped... I used to have a Nike pair and it was terribly uncomfortable, and after a few months, it broke! I like Reeboks too, actually, but the designs are no longer so appealing to me.

Adidas. I like their shoes. They feel very comfortable and look really good. Nike is kinda bullshit. My Nike Air sole came out after a month or two. And I sprained my ankle while running with it before. I threw them away two months ago.

it really depends what the shoes are for, wherether its for sprints or long distance endurance events.

i dont do sprints so i dont really know much about it. but i'd say asics are my fave. followed by new balance/ brooks SAF issue shoes. ( the latter because its cheap, and i'm damn cheapskate sometimes.) other than that, saucony ain;t bad either. tried one of them when the peeps came to my camp, and they felt pretty comfortable. price was pretty decent as well.

Don't think so sub, my saf NB has been used and abused and the sole is still intact. Used to own reeboks, the sole came out after a year. So now I am now sticking to saf NB.

i'm kinda expecting the Asics to get positive appraisals here... i own a pair, served me well for more than 8yrs, the only pair whose sole did not come off but it's costly...

wah 8 years!!!

actually if you run routinely, you will need to change the shoes regularly, as pointed by one of the member here. Yes it will be costly, but nothing beats a healty foot. Don't want to get injured unnecessarily because of activity that supposed to make us healthier

running shoes..

btw, im wondering. anyone knows how much Running Lab charges for their feet diagnosis??????

has anyone here gone for the test? care to share the process?

im quite surprised no one mentioned Etonic. used them for awhile. never had a proper running shoe i cld reely rely on.

hence the sudden urge to go down to running lab, get the analysis done and then purchase a pair of running shoes.

Forza!

^Hi I work for RunningLab. The feet diagnosis/analysis is free of charge.

We would do two tests on you. The first one is a standing test, where we would determine your arch height. The second one is a gait analysis, where we would determine your type of pronation. After that, a couple of questions would be asked so we can further determine the right shoes for you.

Just pop by the outlet at Funan and look for Kamal (me) and I would do the tests for you. =)

i'm beginning to like the Mizunos... but they aren't cheap.

the Asics shoes that lasted me for 8 years- i only used them for running; they don't double up as my casual sneakers.

Query..

Kamal, thanx for the info.

i actually popped by the RL outlet in Velocity but stopped short of entering. i was afraid i had to purchase a pair of shoes there after my test and i hated the thought of having to say no after wasting the assistant's time.

the website isn't very informative at all.

i sincerely believe that Running Lab can maximize its potential if it updates its website with more ground info.

i have 2 queries.

1) the testing is to customize a shoe or the sole?
2) is it really free, no strings attached?

cos i rather pay a nominal fee for the test than enjoy a free test.

im a minority. im not built tat way.

do share.

appreciation.

1) Running Lab does not offer customization of shoes or sole. We do recommendations of shoes/insoles based on your feet type.

2) Yes, it's FREE! =)

Don't think about it as wasting the retail assistant's time. I'm very sure he/she would be more than happy to share his information and experiences with you. Plus, I bet you would learn things you never knew about running before. Also, almost all of the the front-line staff are active in the running/triathlon scene so you would be sure to get great advice regarding training, nutrition, hydration and anything else related to to sport.

The outlet at Novena can be quite crowded at times. So if you want a more personalized and relaxed atmosphere, the outlet at Funan is where you wanna be at. ;)
