Just post up pictures of yourself having a real great time at a gig or simply just you and your instrument!

This post is to create public awareness on the rising female faces in the music scene. We will be looking at posting gig videos of female musicians in other thread once we get more responses from the female community in this thread.

Most of the famous pop stars of today are made famous not for their musical abilities, but for how they are packaged into a product to fit into what the consumers would like them to be.

With consumerism of goods and services to cater to every of our human need possible, comes with the packaged human product for people to worship and admire... for the talents they appear to possess no matter how superfical it might be.

With the addition of technological advances in the areas of voice editing, photo editing and plastic surgery, it shows how far record companies would go through in marketing the "perfect" album we buy off the shelves.

After all our senses delight in thinking of the musican's attractive features while listening his story through his music. A world of fantasy where everything is complete.

The hard truth is, there must be a face to every music. How would the albums and singles sell if the musicans does not possess any attractive features? Although there are several exceptions to this, most of the top selling artistes are just packaged products to suit your taste.

Just take a step back and think about it the next time you buy an album.

On the contray, yes it can be seen as a cheap publicity stunt if you consider bands performing at gigs in the same manner. But to put it in a less crude manner it is to create "public awareness" of the female faces to the music industry in the context of Singapore.

Another awareness it might create is wheather a musican is judged on his musical abilities or looks in today's society.

On the subject of advertising, every musican does do some advertising (refer to other threads on local bands). You cant just sit around the whole day at home strumming away. With exposure comes with opportunities.

I hope you see this thread as an opportunity for musically inclined women.

Anyway guys, this was just a perfect example of how we boys will never respect women as musicians. How many of you went gaga at the 5 string bass rather than her posing with it, if it was an advertisement for the bass it would have been fine but what happened to you crediting her as a musician.

Though suppose to be a "no guys allowed" but I just wanna say that Averal is right. In this line you not only need to be good but how you market yourself and grab opportunites. In SG very little musicians are succseful not cause of the environment but they'r not daring or open enough. Even you search for guitarist on YouTube most of them are Westerns peeps some even went to the extend of editing the video and dress up. In SG you only can see musicians that are uncle who play for living in the public other then that I guess very little musicians dare to step out(dont count those gig performance)! And dont tell me if I'v never look hard enough wherelse its actually the opposite way.

btw averal, 5 string girl bassist! i respect. i'm a male bassist myself and i honestly respect and admire female musicians who choose the musical route of the low end. keep yourself to the bassists forums and stay out of the kopitiam area man. its really easy to get flamed here.
