Reliable tube amps?

Im using a Vox Ad30Vt and was thinking of switching to a pure tube amp. Im kind of low budget as i was thinking on getting some pedals together with the amp.
I'm thinking of getting a 15 watts tube amp. Any recommendations? Hope to get one that can go well with pedals. since its 15watts, i don't think the budget too big la. maybe 100xx. not more than 200+ lar. Low budget:mrgreen:

yeah! so thnx for help. even who those who never reply, thanks for entering and having some interest (:

Xin,

it's not really possible with that budget for a tube amp, 15 watt or otherwise. Even 2nd hand, the most you can likely get is the Ibanez Valbee. Try increasing your budget is all I can say, save up till you can get a good one. I am using the Valbee myself and I love it for bedroom practise, even though it's like 5 watt or something and the speaker cone is only 6". Try it at Swee Lee but I remember it's $300 after discount. So go 2nd hand.

Epiphone Valve Junior Combo is not cheap either, nor is the blackheart ones. and they are all 5watt if I remember correctly for the ones nearest to your budget.

Good luck.

5W is enough for bedroom practice, I'd say its overkill even.
But commercially its the lowest easily available wattage.

I'd jump at a chance to buy a 10mV tube amp.

100+ is way too little for a full tube. if you're tight on budget, you can wait for the release of the vox ac4 which is said to be priced below 400

wahahahaha 100+ for a tube amp.

come on bro. That's not very nice of you. I know he might be asking a lil' too much and might have an extremely tight budget, but to scoff at his budget is abit too disrespectful. It shows abit of arrogance as well. He might not be able to afford expensive gear like you, but that doesn't mean you have to poke fun at his budget.

anyway, @ the TS. IMO, just save, no point getting something you don't like and like everyone else has said. 100+ for a tube amp is very very very hard to find. Just play what you have, improve as you go along and save. You could also go around trying out the different flavours of amps available from Voxes to Fenders and marshalls to mesas and what not. That way you can find what you like, and save straight for that.

Cheers bro!

You might want to scout around to get a better sense of your budget. Just to give you an idea, ny Laney VC15 is listed at $1.2k, and my Fender Princeton is listed at $2k. Both are 15w tube amps. The Laney LC15R I a bit cheaper than the VC, I think, but definitely more than what you're prepared to pay.

wow j_m_s, not bad u managed to take his 100+ budget and refer him to vox's, fenders, marshalls and mesas. ok to the threadstarter im sorry i was sarcastic abt the tube amp budget, ill turn this around and do my part with a recommendation to make up to you. here are some amps to check out with specific models you can youtube to see if u like them.

trainwreck (must)

No offense meant but you need to add a '0' at the end for this to vaguely work.

With a budget of $1,000, you can look at the Fender Pro Junior. I'd recommend you look at the Blackhearts and Epiphones Valve Jr if you have only around $500. 5W is still plenty loud.

PS: No one mentioned Dumble? I thought it's the end all amp?

trainwreck (must)

You're kidding right?:p How many arm and legs we need to sell before can afford one? Might as well go buy a Two Rock... Or better still! Hunt for a Dumble!

Would like to try a Trainwreck though... Nice amps, as I've heard...

to the threadstarter,

well u might wanna double over your budget and then prob u could afford a fender pro junior which is prob around maybe 500 or so, a small wattage amp which could suit your needs, ignore my first 2 posts, i was just clowning around and being an ass.

nope, i think he does wanna change to tube amps, at the moment the current amp the threadstarter is using is a vox ad30vt which is a hybrid amp. well tubes imo isnt all hype, ive yet to try a solid state which even comes close to comparing to full tube amp, but then again the amp must suit the individuals needs, getting a nonMV and playing it at bedroom lvls wouldnt really obtain anything, or getting a recto to play clean either.
