Reduce Attack, Presence- Orange tiny teror

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone can help me. When I play sometimes I like to hit the strings real hard:)

My amp is a TT and it gives a very strong kick esp when the vol is turned up. Now other amps Ive played do the same, but some amps are more soft, when you play hard.

Not sure if this is called attack or presence, kind of that glassy kick, but I want to get rid of it.

Anything i can do?

thanks

try out compressor, any compressor. No brand name mentioned, but do google round for compressor and see if the info helps in what you seeking

cheers

edited: if dont want pedal, then adjust and get use to playing around with the dynamics of your picking hand. Its free and helps a lot in projecting different sound in playing.

it would be increasing the compression.

Compression squash your sound, sorta balancing/even out the peak of your highest and lowest point of your geetar signal.

Too much of it, you sound is like kena sucked back into the amp when you play hard. Too little of it, can save the money on the compressor for something else.

For tube amp, as you turn up to "shiok level", theres compression within, but am not sure how the TT fare as i have lil knowledge of tube amp in general.

i dont know what you need, but if you interested, can try with compressor first, but dont jump into any brand yet, do search for the info on compressor and compressing in general for audio signal before going straight for the brand and effect. It will help save you some money. Imho

thanks mate,

Ill try out some compression pedals, so increasing compression will get rid of that glassy bright sound? I like single coil sparkly, softly played appeggios, but yeah when I dig it it gives a real unpleasant sound, esp at high vol(though tone is good at that stage), if I could soften the kick it would be great.

keeley or deth!!!! hahahaha....

personally i really like the reissued EH's Soul Preacher but thats just me and no self promotion cos I've got no stock for it.

You can try out the RMC FK-1 too.... it was rumoured FK stands for EFFF "some famous modder K" hur hur hur. Basicly a Ross type of compressor.

Many locals have good experience with Goose's compressor too.

you might want to check out Limiters, another type of compression. Difference being:

Compressor -- Makes soft notes louder and very loud notes softer. It squashes your signal, evens it out. Country chicken picking guys would normally use one.

Limiter -- Doesn't affect the soft notes (sounds more natural) but will compress the louder signals, so you won't get a sudden loud spike in volume when you whack hard.

no right or wrong here, some people like amps with fast transient attacks, others like amps with "sag" or where the single notes "bloom" from the initial pick attack.

play as many amps as you can and find what works for you.

thanks boys, will figure it all out, will check out the compressors and limiters, might have solved it though, got another amp after a gas attack haha.

cheers!
