hey guys, i'm intending to change the stock pickups for my strat.

I'm been reading about the lace sensors and have been reading good reviews.

Any pickups you guys are using that you think is better?

Music I play is rock/alternative/pop and a bit of hardrock/metal.

thanks

if you are going for a very nice strat tone, settle for a set of Fender CS69 pickups. they sound really awesome on alder body strats.

well for rock you could look into the direction of the hot and cool rails by seymour duncan. alternatively, you could check out Tonerider pickups. sound samples on their website. very affordable and very nice.

Buy another guitar, since you play so many genres.

Well I bought this strat as my second guitar BECAUSE I play so many genres... my apologies for typing all the genres I play. Nonetheless, isn't there a versatile pickup out there which have a good clean tone and still sound great overdriven?

My other's one's an RG450DX with EMGs.. which i feel is more suited for the more heavier songs.

The strat I wanna make a versatile option so i dunt have to switch guitars on a short 45 minute set. Anyways, I'm thinking of Lace Sensor Gold on the neck and SD hot rails for the bridge? Is this any good? How about the middle pickup?

I'm using a set of lace holy grails on my strat. it's pretty good. just that it might lack a certain bite to it that you might be looking for if you're playing the heavier stuff, but otherwise it's a pretty good set of pickups. oh and i dont know about the rest but i find that the HG(holy grails) can take hi gain settings pretty nicely. and a plus is they are noiseless.

other wise you could try suhr V60LP's they're pretty much one of "the" most sought after pickups by strat players( thats my conclusion from the always out of stock G77 but thats besides the point) the V60LP's are pretty decent as well, downside, they arnt noiseless.

OR! if you wanna go nuts, get some bare knuckle pickups for the strat. :D

Suhr V60s or V60LPs for a slightly more mid-strong tone.

Suhr FLs for abit more high-end.

Suhr V54s for sweeter, less compressed, vintage tone.

Only heard the V60s and FLs...really versatile for both clean n overdriven tones.

ok.....My question is why you wana change pickups on your strat? Not enough output, not fatter, thinner. etc? I can play hard rock or even metal on my EJ. It depends on your amp, pedals.

PS: im not discouraging you to buy or anything.

Go for HS-3s then, they are rather low output but can still deliver one hell of a kick with high gain settings, means you get clarity.

Cool.. you guys sure have your favourites.. makes my decision harder! The suhr's seem pretty interesting. I'll check out the HS-3.

Anyways, i presume i can find all these pickup suggestions at davies?

If not, can you tell me where to get 'em?

Thanks so much.

you're gonna have to order dimarzios through sweelee if i'm not wrong.

I haven't come across a pickup which can do everything from blues/pop/rock/alternative/metal. It's good at one or the other, or else it's a compromise which doesn't excel at anything.

If you want hard rock / metal, you have no choice but to go humbucker. Apart from Adrian Smith and Dave Murray, I haven't seen many others play hard rock / metal with fenders.

If you want the sweetest sounding single coils, I recommend the Van Zandt blues pickups - I have them on my strat and they flat out rock. You may also want to take a look at Wolfetone pickups (you have to special order them from the US but worth every penny) - you can use "cub"s in the neck and middle and the "bitch" in the bridge position. I've played that combo and it rocks.

I use a custom set of Van Zandt pickup on my strat. Can't comment if it's better than other brand, but compare to the stock, it's day and night different :D

dunno wats in your other EMG equipped guitar ( humbuckers or singles )
but if you like EMG
for your strat
you can get a set of EMG SA
they are quite versatile

they are humbuckers.

Anyways, sorry to confuse all of you. I don't intend to use the strat to play metal. Got the ibanez for that. It's more for the pop/rock/alternative/indie genre.

Weirdly enough.. throughout this thread so far, there's not one pickup which has more than one supporter.. haha.. how to choose?
