My friend is planning to buy. But just before buying he wants to know ( I also want to know actually ) how do I remove vocals off a song using that specific program ? Also he tried on his friend software when he record his voice with the song, only his voice will be there in the final product, the song is not there. Any idea ?

Reaper will not help you remove vocals from a song that has already been finalized. Say an existing song downloaded from Internet or ripped from a CD.

I'm not sure what your friend did using his friend's software. Perhaps you meant that he record his vocals in a separate stem of a mix?

You may want to consider rephrasing your question.

Like Audacity if u record with the song, your voice + the song will be there in the final product. Right now in Reaper, he said he record a track + his voice together, final product is left with his voice only no songs.

There are plugins out there that do that. But I'm not sure of how good they are. Not sure if Reaper can do it, but you can still use a plugin within Reaper.

This plugin "Extraboy" does a decent job at that, http://www.paulrharvey.co.uk/elevayta/azuifgeh.htm and its only 90c

Unfortunately, unless the song is very sparse or you get an inexperienced engineer doing a 5.1 mix and putting the vocals only in the center, you won't be able to remove the vocal cleanly. If you do manage to do it, let me know!
